That's awesome! Did you record that? No, but the one played at the one I went to was exactly the same.

Chrono Trigger is awsome. Got kinda stuck in trying to figure out where to go after a certain point though. Since the game is so open-ended, I tend to go to places I shouldn't.

I'm loving Chrono Trigger, it's awesome. So awesome, I'm SERIOUSLY considering investing in the DS version.
It's the first time I've played, but I've already decided I will DEFINITELY be replaying. I love that this game requires almost NO level-grinding/money-farming. And the "random encounters" aren't truly random, you see them coming.

there actually is a bit of level crunching needed. It's not gonna help if you can only beat a boss with magic and your characters levels make them have very low MP
though is it possible to actually beat the final boss if you choose to fight him at the beginning of the game?

Well, yeah, I've done SOME grinding, but compared to most game, it's VERY small.

Chrono Trigger was one of the games I have played on the SNES. And will have to say that this game is nothing less than incredible. To this day, it still remains as one of my favorite RPG's ever. There is nothing that was imperfect about the game. The story was solid, the music was incredible, the ending was epic, the characters I will never forget, the humor was great. Everything that makes an RPG great is present in this game.
Chrono Cross however, is nothing short of an insult to the Chrono name. I played it, and beat it. I absolutely abhor the game, it's like the exact opposite of Chrono Trigger. Just about everything that makes an RPG bad, I guarantee that you will find it here. The story made no sense, they offend the original Chrono characters. the characters of this game are retarded, the music sounds more like elevator music, the list goes on. The only thing that was kinda cool was the graphics. Best graphics for it's time. Other than that, the game is pure garbage.

any of you guys hear about the rumors of the scrapped sequel to Chrono Trigger coming back into the light for possible production? Chrono Trigger: Radical Dreamers? It's just a text based game for the SNES. I was hoping it would be a great sequel or something. But I'm pretty sure that's all it is.

There are no plans for a new title, despite a statement from Hironobu Sakaguchi in 2001 that the developers of Chrono Cross wanted to make a new Chrono game.[107] The same year, Square applied for a trademark for the names Chrono Break in the United States and Chrono Brake in Japan. However, the United States trademark was dropped in 2003.[108] Director Takashi Tokita mentioned "Chrono Trigger 2" in a 2003 interview which has not been translated to English.[109] Yuji Horii expressed no interest in returning to the Chrono franchise in 2005, while Hironobu Sakaguchi remarked in April 2007 that his creation Blue Dragon was an "extension of [Chrono Trigger]."[110][111] During a Cubed³ interview on February 1, 2007, Square Enix’s Senior Vice President Hiromichi Tanaka said that although no sequel is currently planned, some sort of sequel is still possible if the Chrono Cross developers can be reunited.[112] Yasunori Mitsuda has expressed interest in scoring a new game, but warned that "there are a lot of politics involved" with the series. He stressed that Masato Kato should participate in development.[60] The February 2008 issue of Game Informer ranked the Chrono series eighth among the "Top Ten Sequels in Demand", naming the games "steadfast legacies in the Square Enix catalogue" and asking, "what's the damn holdup?!"[113] In Electronic Gaming Monthly's June 2008 "Retro Issue", writer Jeremy Parish cited Chrono as the franchise video game fans would be most thrilled to see a sequel to.[114] In the first May Famitsu of 2009, Chrono Trigger placed 14th out of 50 in a vote of most-wanted sequels by the magazine's readers.[115] At E3 2009, SE Senior Vice President Shinji Hashimoto remarked, "If people want a sequel, they should buy more!"[116]
Got this off of wikipedia. Not sure if it's accurate, but I'm kinda hoping they mean well.

I DID invest in the DS Version, I rather enjoyed "finding" the anime videos from the PS version. I did have to do some SERIOUS leveling before I could do the side quests(I'm almost done with them, just finishing the Sun Stone) but Geno Dome took care of that. Seriously, that was an AWESOME leveling place. Now everyone has all their Tech's and are at least level 60. Nothing hurts me anymore!

I stopped playing when I got everyone to level 99. There's more that I could do, but most of it is just boring item collection.

I recently downloaded a rom and started playing through it. I'd tried it before, on the computer of a friend who had the rom, but I didn't get very far.
As much as I hate to admit it, and although I still like the stories of the Mother series better, I can see why EarthBound did so poorly back in the day. Chrono Trigger came out around the same time (summer of 1995), and compared to it, graphically and gameplay wise, EarthBound must have seemed downright dated. It must have seem pretty dated compared to Final Fantasy III (the North American version of VI, not the real III) as well, which was released the previous year, but Chrono Trigger blows both of them out of the water.
I really wish they'd continue this series. They only did one sequel, over ten years ago, though there have been a couple ports of the games here and there since then.
