NaNoWriMo is approaching! Is anyone else participating? If so what genre is your novel going to be?

I am! I'm not sure what my genre will be...I'm thinking maybe fantasy, but light-hearted. Not quite a parody of fairy tales, but definitely poking some fun at them.

That sounds awesome! I'm going to be writing fantasy, too, but I still need to figure out quite a few things (mostly involving showing mind-reading without italics).

I'll be participating again this year. I've never been able to finish before but ever year I get a little closer so maybe this time I'll make it, I will mostly end up doing fantasy or science fiction, possibly both.

How much planning are you guys putting into your novel?
In the past I didn't really have much of a plan, and I've always failed. So, this year I'm writing an outline to help me out.

I'm writing a chapter-by-chapter outline. I don't think I did it for NaNoWriMo last year and it fell apart, but I still managed to reach 50,000 words (and then promptly gave up on that story).

Chapter by chapter outline is a great idea. I usually start with an over all story outline then I do the character developments and how they progress with the story. Then I try to mash it all together into a chapter out line.

I think I might do a general outline, especially since I have a ton of problems coming up with a villain (which is one of the reasons a lot of my stories seem to fail). This time I might not even have a villain at all, at least a major one, and instead try to focus on the main characters.

Nanowrimo: a very difficult dedication. I have been trying to practice for it in the last few months, but even with so much time, I have not been able to hold onto a story. As much as I love writing, it seems as though I am more suited for editing. Ah, well, I will try again! Good luck to everyone!

Oh, I don't know...I have an idea for something, but...it matters if I work or not.

Okay, so, I am doing this. And I say we need to support one another. We should have some chats and such.
My name is Pickle on there.

I am Sanoa Nanashi. www.nanowrimo.org/eng/user/493013I've got my basic plot figured out, and have done some minor outlining/storyboarding, but... well, if I'm bored this week I'll get to it!
