While I was writing a chapter in one of my fanfics, I came across an unusual grammar question in relation to paragraph structure. In a paragraph, some sentences were in past tense (because it reflects events that happened earlier), and others were present (reflecting feelings that one of the characters feel about the other sentences).
My question is: is this correct usage of paragraph structure, Or should I divide the events and thoughts into their own individual paragraphs?

No, I think you have it right. Tense changes are only jarring when it's a mistake.
