Please note we would like to clarify the content policy we have in place since 2002. FanFiction.Net follows the Fiction Rating system ranging from Fiction K to Fiction M. Although Fiction Ratings goes up to Fiction MA, FanFiction.Net since 2002 has not allowed Fiction MA rated content which can contain adult/explicit content on the site. FanFiction.Net only accepts content in the Fiction K through Fiction M range. Fiction M can contain adult language, themes and suggestions. Detailed descriptions of physical interaction of sexual or violent nature is considered Fiction MA and has not been allowed on the site since 2002.
The bold is taken from FFnet, put up this today, June 4th. I'm thoroughly confused. So, we are allowed as much as an R rated movie or not??? I know we strive for PG13 here, I'm just trying to understand what they're saying, so I know if I should be downloading my favorite M fics before they get taken off or not. Or maybe some people are pushing beyond what I think of as R rated movie?

I think that they're just saying "no porn." It's a rule that does get ignored from time to time, and they're probably just reminding people. Nothing I've ever written was really descriptive enough for an MA rating, but I've done the occasional piece that was dirty enough (or dark enough) that I stuck the M on it.
Most of the audience I've dealt with is pretty liberal when it comes to the rating line, too. I'm just assuming that we all either skim or skip through the terms of service before we post a story, since that's where FF.net's official take on the ratings system is...

So if you will, "tasteful" lemons only?

Ahh, thanks, I feel a bit more sure now.
Though I'm still sure AFF is having a ballpark with this situation.

I just think that FF.net is following Facebook's example and becoming gradually more evil with every update. Certainly this isn't the only complaint thread that I've been suffering through recently...

I didn't mean to complain honestly, I was just trying to clear up my confusion BEFORE I complained.
