www.gotoquiz.com/what_american_accent_do_you_haveI scored 95% Midland, which is apparently typical of westerners. I was trying to explain to someone why a certain character that was supposed to be raised in Las Vegas wouldn't have a southern accent, and needed to know what you'd even call a typical Nevadan's accent in the first place. I'd never heard it described as anything before, but apparently we speak a dialect that (oddly enough) has it's roots thousands of miles away... in the midwest. Anyway, I came across this quiz in the process.

Your Result: The West
Your accent is the lowest common denominator of American speech. Unless you're a SoCal surfer, no one thinks you have an accent. And really, you may not even be from the West at all, you could easily be from Florida or one of those big Southern cities like Dallas or Atlanta.
Well, I am from Oregon, so this test was right.

I really wish I could find this other quiz I did a while back. It's scary accurate. It doesn't just say "you've got accent x", it actually will generate a map that shows you the part of the country you're most likely from.
It narrowed me down to an area that encompassed southern Oregon, northern and central California... and just the western portion of Nevada. I hadn't realized there was that much variation.
