My favorite scene in the whole book is the one where Harry is hiding under the table in his invisibility cloak and listening to the story of why black is after him.
in the movie he sneaks in by himself and you get this quick retelling of it through some garbled dialogue between Mcgonagall and Fudge. then the whole dramatic scene they put in afterwards was a little much for me.
Rowling's version was more subtle, and I think it worked better.

Harry Potter is fun. The books are a good mix of adventure, humor, magic, drama!

Not really humor, though. It can be funny because it is stupid.

This is a scene from Harry Potter 1.
Exploding guy: *tries to do that Wingardium Leviosa spell and explodes*
Harry: "Looks like we need another feather over here, sir."
Now THAT.......................................was not funny.

I think they're interesting rather than funny.

um...the feather scene was in the movie, no?
Harry Potter is not a "funny series" it is a series that has humor mixed into it. the kajillion fans of the series, of all ages, don't read it because it's funny. they read it because it's a damn good series.
Granted, it's not for everyone, but there's no denying it's good. the books wouldn't sell if it wasn't.
by the way, I can respect a person who just plain doesn't like the series, but thinking you're too "cool" for it just shows you're immature.
here are some of my favorite funny parts:
Book 5:
(background. evil nasty teacher you want to kill throughout the whole book is being chased out of the school by peeves who is whacking her with a walking stick and a bag of chalk alternately)
McGonagall: I would have liked to have joined the students running behind and cheering, but someone seems to have borrowed my walking stick...
(background. professor trelawney, supposed to be psychic, but 95% of the time she's full of crap. she keeps predicting that Harry's going to die, but in this book Harry does something against the evil witch teacher that makes all the other teachers very happy with him)
professor trelwaney threw her arms around harry and proclaimed to the class that contrary to what she had previously believed, harry was NOT going to die, he was going to live to a ripe old age, become minister of magic, and have twelve children.
Book 2:
the part where Ginny weasley (Ron's little sister who has a crush on Harry) hires a valentines day "cupid" to tackle harry in the middle of the hallway and sing a special song for him
the part where Lockhart tries to get everyone into the spirit of valentines day and says "your professors can get into the spirit too. why not ask professor snape how to whip up a love potion..."
"professor snape looked as if the first person to ask him for a love potion would be forcefed poison"

Cho Chang = Worst Chinese Name EVAR! Now you do realize that it could be a Korean name, too, right? I'm just saying... unless they specified it in the book of course. And the movies, aren't, well... exactly my favorites. The books were better, though. The writer could pull you away from the hectic everyday life and drop you in this world of fantasy and imagination...well, sometimes anyway.
