*sighs and shakes head* pokemon, pokemon, pokemon, that's all my little cousin talks about any more. It's sorta annoying when he comes over to my house because he immediately wants to get my pokemon games {GBA} and play with them. He's a pokemone fanatic, literally!

When I did actually play Pokemon, I would perfer the newer ones compared to the red, blue, yellow because they made things more experienced and more fun in the game. The Gold and Silver were the newest ones that I still have somewhere which I never play. I'm thinking of trading them in for either cash, or store credit. I'm still trying to decide on that one....

I doubt many see them this way, but I'm a fan of the Pokemon games for the strategy. The games are really great strategy games, but very few ever get far enough into making a team to see the games as such. You can use hyperbeam 'til doomsday in-game and win with no problems. Use Hyper Beam in a competitive battle and you're in trouble though. There's a big difference between battling a skilled person and battling the in-game AI. v_v; The games are alright for just playing them like your average monster-raising RPG, but that alone wouldn't have held my attention this long. Anyone else play the games for the strategy or is that just me? =P

Actually if you even tried to Hyper Beam abuse against the elite 4 you'd get you [behind] seriously wupped... Yeah, I suppose you're right. I'm used to training Pokemon in the 70-90 range fighting the Elite 4 though. If you use Hyper Beam on a Pokemon that has a decent Attack stat, an OHKOs are fairly common against the Elite 4. Hyper Beam isn't actually all that bad in-game if you leave on the ability to switch Pokemon when your opponent uses a new Pokemon. =P Yeah, then there's Slaking - it's actually decent with Hyper Beam. Slaking rests during the recharging turn and it works out alright. =) Then again, Return is still pretty strong and gives you the option of switching on the resting turn (or if you try to skill swap Truant away, then you can attack with Return every turn). Yeah, Hyper Beam can have one concievable use in competitive battling though. =P For the most part, Hyper Beam just stinks. XP Yeah, I suppose that wasn't the point, but the games are pathetically easy to beat (and while Battle Tower is harder, that's only because the computer cheats to win - a cheating AI is no fun to play against).

POKEMON *fangirls over teh pokes* I love pokemon games! The strategy is really fun, as I am seriously a strategy gamer. I always make the most weak and usless attacks invaluble. I love beating the Elite Four dragies with little attack versus they're really slow hyperbeam.
Ha! I'm sucha little geek 8P

HOW CAN YOU STAND ALL THAT TRAINING! I ussually have 40-80 pkmn!..... Maybe I rely a little TOO much on type strategy....

I always go for pure power.... well..... not PURE power but good power nonetheless... *hugs earthquake* Has anybody used blastburn? That attack is as powerful as hyperbeam!........ only problem is it also needs recharging time, but since it ussually 1HKO's I just switch Charry with Rayquaza.

heh....I don't mean to be rude or anything, but I'm surprised that this topic is still alive..... I'm into pokemon!!! or I use to be. I have a whole case full of Pokemon cards that I never use and I know that I won't ever use. I wanna get rid of them. A lot of them are just average cards but I do have a few foil cards like Dugtrio is Foil!!! That's my favorite! I also have a foil Charazard.

70-90!!!! HOW CAN YOU STAND ALL THAT TRAINING! I ussually have 40-80 pkmn!..... Maybe I rely a little TOO much on type strategy.... You're talking to someone who actually spent the time training over 50 Pokemon to level 100 (I don't remember anymore. I think it was something like 57 Pokemon?). ^_^;; Yeah, I was a bit obsessed in those days..... Looking back on it, I sure did spend a lot of time on those Pokemon. I did get pretty good at raising them quickly though - a lot of 'em only took 2 days and I often trained 2 or 3 at a time. ;D As for how I was able to stand it....well....I don't remember. While training, I was always playing my game on autopilot while watching TV. A lot of the time I'd just hook in my Gameboy Player, set Input 2 to the picture-in-picture and watch some TV while training. It works quite well when you have something else to do while training. Training the Pokemon is actually pretty mindless - all you need to do is figure out ahead of time what you'll be doing and then do it. ;D Aiming for a Pokemon's weakness(es) is good, but it does help to use more than pure power. If you're just pounding away at each other, the battle could go either way. If you come across a tank while sweeping and you'd be in some trouble though. There are many ways you could go with a team. There's a lot more to Pokemon than a glorified Rock-Paper-Scizzors game. It's the deeper strategy that really caught my attention and kept my attention with the Pokemon games. I raised so many Pokemon just because I could never dicide which Pokemon I wanted to train and use (or how I wanted to train it). Since I couldn't decide, I decided to train them all! It's been a while since I've played my Pokemon games now, but I might get back to training my Pokemon someday. There are still a lot more Pokemon I want to get to level 100!
