“Yawwwwn” Jack had just woken up. For some reason he knew today was going to be odd. Jack was a man of about sixteen, he wasn’t very smart, but wanted to live somewhere else than in the city. He didn’t want to smell hamburgers every time he walked down the street, he didn’t want fast food for breakfast lunch and dinner, he wanted more. He wanted to live somewhere where it was quiet. But you know what they say, be careful what you wish for…….
Chapter One: Be careful what you wish for
“Jack wake up!!” his Mom yelled. “Five more minutes!” Jack replied in a zombie-like voice. “NO! Get up now!” “Ok, ok...” he sighed, he hated living here. So he got up as his mother instructed. Got dressed, fixed his hair and brushed his teeth. Five minutes later, he was at the table. “Mom, why do we have to live here?” He asked. “Because of your fathers work” she replied. “Well you know what? I hate this place” “Well if you don’t like it then-“she was interrupted by the phone. “Bring, bring” Jack ran over to get it. “Hello, Estes residents” He said into the phone. “Yes I am looking for a Jack Estes” “That would be me” “Well, I am here in a place called Mineral town, and an old man that used to live here died, and in his will he said, I’m leaving the farm to Jack, so if you would like you may own the farm or you don’t have to. “My own farm?” He asked. “Yes” the man replied. “Yes I will move in as soon as I can,” he said in an excited voice “how do I get there?” “We will be sending you a ferry ticket in the mail, it should arrive today or tomorrow so be ready, a list of directions will also be attached with the ticket. Thank you and good bye” “Bye,” Jack replied “Mom, I’m leaving in a couple of days” “Where to?” she said “A place called Mineral Town, we went there when I was young, the old man that owned the house died, and left his farm to me” She thought for a minute, she thought it would be good for him and there would be one less person to feed. “Ok” she said. And that was final

“Ah, finally done packing, I hope this will be fun.”
Two days later
“Ding Dong” The doorbell rang. “THE MAILS HERE!!” Jack exploded out of his seat and jolted to the door. “I’LL GET IT!!” Jack opened the door. “Here is your mail sir” “Thank you” He slammed the door and ran to the kitchen table. He shuffled through the mail until he found it, he ripped it open and grabbed it. His mom was already in the car, he handed the directions to his mom. Soon after, they were there.
“Bye mom, I’ll miss you all, I promise to write once a week and I will keep a journal of every thing that happens ok? “Ok Jack, we will see around ok?” She replied. She then gave him a hug goodbye. 10 minutes later he was on the ferry. He looked around,
Not many passengers, he thought, just then a man with chocolate brown hair came up from underneath the deck there’s one person I’ll go talk to him.
“Hi I’m Jack” he said to the man. “Huh?” The man replied “Oh hi my name is Cliff” “Nice to meet you Cliff. So I presume your going to Mineral Town?” Jack asked “Yes, I am.” He replied “it is a beautiful place, you will love it.” They talked for hours. Then all of a sudden, a dog came around the corner with a man right behind him chasing it.
“Get back here! No dogs allowed on the ferry!” “Wait!” Jack yelled “That’s my dog and I didn’t know he wasn’t allowed on, sorry” Jack new it wasn’t his, but he had to take it, it looked in trouble and needed his help. “Come here Chuck,” the dog didn’t reply, “Come on Buddy,” still nothing, Come Bandit!” the dog came. “Well, I guess were buds now Bandit!" “Arf!” “I like you too” Cliff and Jack talked for a couple hours more, then they finally arrived “WE ARE NOW ARRIVING IN MINERAL TOWN! HAVE FUN EVERYONE” The intercom said “Well, see’ya around Cliff” “Bye” Jack then looked around at his new home. He was only at the beached and loved it already! He then took off for the road.
Chapter two: The new guy in town
Jack started to walk along the beach. He immediately saw a couple people. Someone who was tan and had a purple bandana on. Jack started to walk towards the steps, when a girl popped out.
"Hi!" She said cheerfully. "Um, hi?" Jack replied. "You must be new here because I've never seen you around here before" "Yeah, I just got here" The wind blew and the girls orange-red hair fell into her eyes. She quickly brushed it away. "By the way, I'm Ann" she said after she brushed her hair away. "And you are? "Jack, Jack Estes" he replied "Well the 'Jack Jack Estes'" she said jokingly "Would you like me to show you around town?" she pointed to the steps. Jack thought for a moment. Well, I haven’t really seen the town so, I guess it would be good "Sure" he said "Awesome!" she put her hands around his neck and squeezed, as if a hug. She then let go and started for the steps. Jack also followed. They passed alot of places, the two farms, where Barley and Rick worked, then at the chicken farm, Popuri and her mom Lillia worked. Then she took them to the Winery and then skipped the Inn. She wanted to save it for last. Then she showed Jack the Church, where her "friend" Cliff hung out. Then the supermarket where Karen worked and the Library and Clinic.
"Ready to go to the Inn?" she said after they had finished the tour. "Yeah" he said "I have some gold so can we get some food? I'll buy" "Sure!" she started to jog to the Inn, as if eager to get there. When they arrived, they walked in and sat down at a table, waiting for the menus. When they were brought to them, Ann introduced them
"Dad, Jack, Jack Doug" she giggled. They heard a door open and Bandit, Jacks dog from the ferry ran in. "I must've for got you!" he said "Did you find another dog to play with?" Bandit barked and ran around the table. Ann and Jack laughed.
"Okay, I want eggs, sunny side up" she said starving. "I'll have scrambled eggs and bacon" he said "Would you like a Honey bun with that?" Doug asked "Yes please" "I'll be right back with your food" he then said, walking away from the table. "So, Jack, where are you from?" Ann asked while waiting for the food. "I'm from the city" “Really?” she asked smiling “What’s it like up there? Smelly? Dirty?” she named tons of things. “Its really dirty!” he said. “You can’t walk anywhere without stepping in gum!” “What’s ‘gum’” she asked. Since she wasn’t from the city where Jack was from, she had no clue what gum was! Jack couldn’t believe it.
“Well,” he said reaching into his pocket “It’s a really chewy piece of, stuff, and it has flavor and you chew it. Sometimes to make your breath smell good.” He pulled two pieces out. Regulars. “Order for Ann and her friend!” Doug shouted. “I’ll get it” Jack said getting up. A few minutes later, Jack came back with his and Ann’s plate. He sat it down in front of her. Jack had also gotten orange juice for them. Immediately, Jack started eating his food. The bacon tasted great, like what they had at Shonees in the city.
“This stuff is great!” he shouted, not even knowing how loud he was. He chugged down his orange juice, and opened his Honey Bun.

Jack leaned back in his seat. He and Ann had just finished breakfast. After all, it was only 11:47. He complimented Doug on his fine cooking.
“Thanks!” Doug said smiling. “Just be sure to come back any time” Afterwards Jack decided to leave the Inn to go meet everyone. Walking along the street he heard a cry.
“Stop! Stop it!” a girl with brown and blonde hair ran straight into Jacks arms. She was crying and had bruises all over her. Just then a man with black hair and a black moustache walked drunkenly around the corner.
“Get back herrre young lad-“he stumbled again. The girl held onto Jack like he was a teddy bear, and she was having a bad dream. He looked down at her and watched her tremble in fear. He stood up and set her down.
“Leave her alone!” he shouted at the man. “Don’t. . .order me ‘round!” he said lunging at him. Jack swiftly dodged his attack and shoved the man down. He then picked him up and took him to the Clinic. He knocked on the door and ran to the girl
“Thank you….” She said, like she was little “My name is. . .Karen” she said. “Thank you, he’s beating me since he’s started drinking. I needed someone to help me. You were him” she stood up, still hurt. “Let me help you” he said putting his hand around her shoulder and walking her. The spring made it a warm, long walk to the farm, which is where they were headed, so Karen was sweating, and so was Jack. When they reached the place, he opened the door and the fan was off, along with the lights, Jack turned them on and sat her on the bed. He called for a house call from the Doctor. He arrived soon after.
