Chapter thirty-four: Found
"He sounds strange." Karen said after I told her the story about Derek. "Doesn't he know that your marriage couldn't be official if he married you two? What kind of idiot goes around trying to hit on woman?" I sighed angrily.
"I'm not sure, but he really made me mad!" I clenched my fists together as we kept walking along through the woods. My mind started drifting to Cliff. "I hope Cliff is okay. I wonder if he and dad are getting along?" I sighed and kept on walking, trying not to cry. "I can't believe I lost them! My boyfriend and my father. Lost."
"We're lost too if you didn't notice." Karen said, rolling her eyes. "I swear I've seen that rock before. About an hour ago. Are you sure we're not going in circles?" I didn't know. I had no clue.
"SHELLY!" I heard someone call from a distance. I couldn't quite figure out who it was. "SHELLY!" I heard it again.
"Crap, it's Derek!" I yelped, pulling Karen along with me as I started to walk faster. "We need to hide...we need to-"
"SHELLY!" The voice was getting closer...but this time I could tell exactly who it was. It was not Derek. "SHELLY, WHERE ARE YOU!?"
"Dad?" I whispered. I broke out into a run with Karen waddling behind me, trying to keep up as best as she could. I finally came to a small clearing with two large trees where I found Cliff sleeping in one, and Dad sitting in the other, calling for me. "DAD!" He spotted me and jumped down from the tree. "Dad, I got lost!"
"No, really?" He said sarcastically. "You were gone for so long...we thought..." He stopped and scratched the back of his head. "We thought you were gone. For good." He took one of my hands and squeezed it. I glanced over at Cliff which was still sleeping. I let go of dads hand and climbed up the tree to sit beside Cliff who was perched up against the tree trunk. Karen finally made it to the clearing also, and introduced herself to my dad. I laid my head on Cliff's shoulder, not wanting to wake him, and slowly fell asleep.
"Shelly?" I woke up to those words. "SHELLY!?" Cliff had finally woke and as soon as I opened my eyes he whirled around and embraced me tightly, knocking me off balance. We both slid off the brach and came crashing down onto the ground.
"Hi Cliff." I said, rather plainly. "I'm glad to see you too. But...sorry to be so rude, but would you mind getting off of me? You're squishing me." Cliff let go of me, and noticed my dad who was looking at us very strangely. Karen was also. I guess it would be kind of strange seeing Cliff laying on top of me, embracing me in a tight hug.
"Oh, sorry." Cliff said. He got up off the ground and helped me up. "What!?" He exclaimed, noticing dad and Karen were still staring.
"I'm just not going to ask what you were thinking..." Karen mumbled. "So, who wants to go fish and get me food?"
