Chapter Three: Night Grave-watchingMy eyes shot open and I jolted up in my bed. I looked around to see if there was a clock, and behind the counter I could see a small hint of one. But I couldn't read it from my current position.
I flipped the covers up and got out of the small bed. My clothes were in a chair next to me. I walked over to the counter and squinted up.
1:46 A.M.
Yes.I ran over to the chair and changed out of my pajamas and put my overalls back on and put my hat on also. I could have swore I heard noises coming from upstairs and figured that Tim and Elli must live up there. I turned and walked over to the door. Opening and shutting it as quiet as I could.

Thump."Huh?" I sat up in my bed and looked around. "I thought I heard a noise..." I pulled the covers up close to my face, and looked around nervously. "It's OK Elli, you'll be alright...." I was talking to myself again. I got out of bed and slipped a light blue robe on with the letter "E" written in cursive around the right breast area.
I slipped some slippers on and headed downstairs, grabbing a candle and matches from the counter next to my bed. When I got downstairs, I struck the match and lit the candle. When I turned and looked in Jacks room, he was gone and I figured that that was what the noise was. Lifting up my gown that was underneath the robe and ran outside. Slamming the door behind me.

I looked to my left and saw the church. Where I had been earlier. Upon walking closer I saw my grandfathers grave again.
How could he leave me like that. I wondered if my mom knew and if she had been keeping it from me. I heard a door slam and footsteps coming down the path.
"Jack! Jack!" someone was whispering in the darkness and it sounded like Elli.
"I-I'm over here!" I whispered in reply.
"Jack is that you?" a figure that was illuminated by candlelight came out of the darkness. It was Elli. Her hair was messed up and she had a light blue robe on. "Jack it is you! What are you doing out here!?"
"I came to-" I stopped myself. She put her free hand on her hip.
"You came to what?"
"Well.....My grandpa lived in the old farm thats somewhere in this village. I came to stay in this village because my mom needed me out of the house. When I arrived I found out he had died...." I looked at the ground and my shoulders sunk in sadness. "I came to see his grave....."
"Oh....are you talking about Zac? He was a very sweet man. Kind and generous...If only he were here...." she paused. "I think we should head back. I'm sorry." Another apology. But now I understood why.
"Can we take the long way?" I looked down the path. She looked at me for a while and finally nodded.
"I guess...." she walked over next to me and we started down the path. After we got into the square, she asked me.
"Did you two have a good relationship?"
"I guess you could say that. Either way I still miss him."
"I see." she nodded. We walked and talked about other things. From animals to medicine. About fifteen minutes later, we got back to the Clinic. We stopped on the door step.
"Thank you Elli, for talking to me tonight and accompanying me." I put my arms behind my back and looked at the ground embarrassed.
"Anytime. But I wouldn't come out here this late at night anymore." I nodded and she turned to go in.
"Wait!" I said, reaching my hand to her shoulder, stopping her.
"Hm?" she turned back around.
"Um..I was wondering....Would you like to go on a picnic tomorrow?" I blushed a crimson red and my heart was pounding.
"You mean like a date!? Of course! I would be delighted!" she smiled and gave me a quick hug. "We'll meet right here tomorrow at noon!"
"I'll bring the food and refreshments. So don't worry about anything." I said. I smiled at her.
"Well, I was going to make a pie..."
"OK. That'd be great too!" she giggled and went inside. My heart calmed down and I walked inside, going to bed with my clothes on and dreaming of tomorrow.
Authors notes: Two points of view in this chapter. My favorite written one so far! Hope you enjoyed it! Next chapter will be up soon or when I get back from Florida! Bye!
