Yeah, it's time for our second annual Christmas in July. It seems a bit early, but I want to give people plenty of time to prepare. How it works, you sign up, and get a randomly selected Secret Santa. You give them a gift. The gift has to be something which can be given via the Internet. Avatars, sigs and fanart are the most popular gifts. The gift does not have to be made yourself. If you find a cool avatar at a site and think your Secret Santa would like it, you can certainly give them that. Also, be creative with your gifts!  Gifts will be exchanged July 24, 25 & 26If you anticapate that will not be online at that time, try to get your gift ready early and PM it to a mod. The mod will give the gift to your Secret Santa for you. A few rules: -Please give a gift only to your Secret Santa. Last summer some people gave gifts to many people, and while it was a kind gesture, those who did not get an extra gift felt left out. -If you sign up for this, but do not give your Secret Santa a gift, you will not be allowed to participate in the December Secret Santa. Lastly, please fill out this form:

I suppose we could call it Stocking Festival in July I suppose that way, it'd be like the game, but I wasn't complaining. By no means, I'm not saying you should change it. I was only making an observation, and I'm glad that it's called what it is. People these days act like anything with the word "Christ" in it (i.e, Christmas) is taboo, and I think that's sad. I say that both as a Born-Again Christian (though, admitedly, not the best example of one) and as a member of western society. The Bible and it's teachings are a cornerstone of that society, and the fact that people are avoiding saying "that word" is proof that most of us have forgotten this. Anyway, I didn't mean to turn this into a political or religious discussion, I was just trying to explain why it was a pleasant surprise to me that it's called "Christmas in July". |
