Hello, my name is Pengaell and I'm happy to have found this place again. I joined before a few years back, but wasn't very active. To be honest I'm not sure how active I'll be now but I'll definitely pop in frequently to lurk around. I've been playing Harvest Moon since the original on SNES back when I was 8 years old... Fond memories ;_;. I've been playing other things right now that have my attention, but I've got Rune Factory 1 and Magical Melody which I intend to play through soon. What did you guys think of those titles? Are there any you would recommend, like Tree of Tranquility or any newer ones?
A little about myself I suppose: I like boxing, anime, video games (given), history, fantasy novels, a wide variety of music, weaponry, philosophy (Confucius would have to be my favorite), and I love dogs. I hope to have some interesting chats with you all here, and will try to participate actively in the community.

Hi welcome to the forum!
Magical Melody is probably my favorite HM game; it has a high replay value what with all the different plots of land and guys and gals to woo. Personally, I didn't care for Rune Factory. I found it rather tedious. I seem to be in the minority on that though.
As for newer games, I reccomenend Island of Happiness. The controls are very awkward at first, but once you get used to it, it's a fun game

Island of Happiness I also recommend, and though I haven't had a chance to play it yet, Tree of Tranquility my husband says is pretty good. Keep in mind with Rune Factory, it's an RPG FIRST, a Harvest Moon SECOND. It's a nice little dungeon-crawler styled game with farming thrown in, but don't expect it to be like other Harvet Moon games...

Thanks for the welcomes. Yeah, I figured Rune Factory was going to be a lot different than other HMs. That's partially what sold it to me: having to actually tame your "livestock", adventuring through dungeons, fighting monsters, a progressing story, along with the usual farming/festivals/interacting with the townspeople and getting married, etc. I also happen to love the setting.
I also started Magical Melody yesterday and really like the setup of the town and your farm. It's interesting actually having to buy more land for your farm to grow, building your livestock pens, and the town itself is a nice change from the way it normally is. The art style is also definitely different than the others, but it's not hard to take in and enjoy.
I have to say my two favorites so far have been Back to Nature, and A Wonderful Life. I played through BTN a few times over the course of a year when it first came out. AWL was fun watching the town change as time went on, watching the children grow up, new people come to town, though I have to admit I was a bit sad when Nina passed away and poor old Galen was always alone in his shack.
Guess I went and rambled on a bit more than I should have considering this is just an introduction topic, heh. I'll leave it at that, and just say thanks again for the welcomes.

You should play the original. It is awesome.
I got nothing else. I'm tired.
