I'm a pretty big fan of his writing, especially his short stories. Though his novels are good, the short stories are really where he shines.
My favorite of his books is Eyes of the Dragon, which is actually less horror, and more like a dark fairy tail. It's pretty fun. I found the hard-cover version at a thrift store today (along with several other SK books) so I'll be re-reading it soon!

i love his writing! he's one of my favorite authors. ^^
i'd have to say my favorite books of his that i've read are The Stand (surprisingly enough, i quite enjoyed the tv version as well) and It. It completely exceeded my expectations; i just really loved the way it was written.
right now i'm reading The Green Mile. i'm a little over halfway through and it's pretty interesting.

Is it good?

yeah, it's pretty good. not one of my favorites, but definitely a good read.
i also forgot to mention that i love the fact that he interconnects his books; like, he'll make a reference to the hotel in The Shining (forgot which book he did that in), or how the car from Christine makes an appearance in It. and Flagg (the main bad guy in Eyes of the Dragon) actually appears in several of Stephen King's works, as well, including The Stand, which, as i mentioned, is one of my faves.

Is it good? Like I said, it's my favorite. It's not scary, just a dark fantasy story. Very different from King's usual stuff. The interconnections between the books can be really fun for a fan, though maybe confusing to a newcomer. There are tons, especially in the Dark Tower books.

I do know that in Dream Catcher, the men in that novel grew up in the city of Derry and confront the children gang. But surprisenly, I've never picked up much on Stephen King.

I couldn't get into Dream Catcher; I tried it a few years ago, but I couldn't relate to the characters.
Moko, if you like The Stand, you should try Cell. It has some definite similarities.

I can't say that I've read any of his books, or even seen any of the movies based on his books (except for bits and pieces of Stand By Me, which I didn't even know until recently was one of his). But I did thoroughly enjoy the recent Family Guy that has three of his stories crammed into one episode, especially how Joe kept getting his legs mangled for no reason (except for the Stand By Me portion, that one actually made sense). ;D

You know, as big a fan of King as I am, I haven't seen very many movies based off his books. I don't like horror movies (Scary books, yes. Scary movies, not so much), so I've only seen The Green Mile, The Shawshank Redemption and Dolores Claiborne.
