HM:Animal parade: accept the calf?

I just started playing last night, and already have a question! #ashamed042jp#

Well, it was my first real day pf playing and I was exploring the island. I somehow made my way to a nearby farm and the owner offered to give me a cow. But I thought: whoa, I'm just starting, how can I take care of a cow? So I said no, thinking he'd say "well just take it later when you're ready" but he said I could just buy one when I'm ready.

I reset my game, but now I'm not sure what to do. Can I possibly take care of a cow on my first day? If I avoid the farm for a little while, will whats-his-face keep up the offer until I am ready?

As far as time goes, he will have it for a while.
(I said yes to the same question you did. I was hesitant over the same issue, but I did fairly well considering)

If I may be allowed to recommend:
Make sure you have about 30 pieces of fodder, and a brush before taking in the calf.

Also:
Did you know you can milk sheep in this game??

And I did not know you could milk sheep, but it makes sense, since you can IRL.
