I just couldn't pick which character to do next, so I decided to do two at once. Favorite Character #6 & 7: Katie & DiaBoth of these girls are my favorites in their games. It's hard to pick between them because they are both great in their own respect. They are exact opposites of one another; Katie is hot, Dia is cold. Comparing the two is like comparing an apple with an orange, both are great for their own reasons. But before I get into the individual girls, let me talk about my experience. When I first played Save the Homeland, I didn't know what ending to do first. So I befriended everyone, and whoever I got the furthest was the one I complete. Who was the first one? You got it, it was Gina! (I never said the answer was obvious.) I don't really like Gina because she's just so uninteresting. But doing her ending has introduced me to Katie and Dia. Katie is lo cute and lighthearted, that I had to do her ending next. Dia on the other hand was cold, bishy, and quite dramatic. I was not interested in Dia at all from what I saw in Gina's storyline. Since I liked Katie, I did her ending. She has a very interesting ending, composed of many ways the whole moonlight dew ending came about. She could do it with Joe, she could do it with you, or you could do it with anyone else. It was odd yet interesting. The best ones were the ones I did the whole moonlight dew event with my favorite girls. At the end, I just fell for the whole head bump scene. Katie thinks she's so mature, but she has no idea what a kiss is. She just bump heads with you, and calls it a kiss. Just plain adorable. Dia was a whole other pack of nuts. I did Dia's ending LAST if you can believe it or not. My first impression of Dia was so bad that I never thought I would like her. WRONG!!! While doing Dia's ending, I learned that she has a soft adorable side once you are friends with her. She has a strong love for blueberries, very loving to her family (particularly to her father), and a strong fear of lightning. Having a fear makes Dia more human than most characters in the Harvest Moon world. Also she is just adorable when she's sitting on the ground reading. I wish I got to know her sooner. Her ending where she discovers the promised land with you is great. Too bad I already discovered it with the kid the file before. But Dia's kissing scene made me say "awwwwwwwwww, that's so cute." She at least knows what a kiss is, as opposed to Katie. When I got to know dia, I expected her to be like Bianca from Rune Factory. Cold, mean, and conceited until the end where she only changes after she marries you. My only gripe with the game is that Dia and Katie were too young to marry. But I lived, and look forward to the game Save The Homeland gets a sequel, or the game gets remade or something. Katie and Dia appeared again in the future game Magical Melody. This time, they are old enough to be marriage candidates. But seriously, what happened? Katie is a bit cuter with her black and red dress, but now she can't bake? Dia looks the same, but she's a sickly girl now? The main problem now is that both of these girls were dull and boring in Magical Melody. I didn't hate them, but . . . Just so boring! Also, these girls appear later in the game, and I already had Nina in such a high heart level. I just ended up Marrying Nina, and not worrying about the others. Katie and Dia are back in the new game Harvest Moon: Hero of Leaf Valley. Once again, Katie changes her look (Which I love, she's so cute!). Dia looks the same like always (Which I have no problem with). And like the previous game, all the girls are now marriage worthy. I am also happy that they have nice fluid personalities, and plenty of cut scenes that give them plenty of life. They didn't mess with anything, and perfected what wasn't working. BUT!!!!!!! I still never married any of the girls. Why? Because the game itself was so annoying and frustrating. I spent the first game trying to get the ending where you make the 100k (was it 100k or 10k?) gold to win the bet against alice. The game was so annoying and frustrating that I never bothered to complete the game again. No second ending meant no completing Katie or Dia's storylines. No complete storylines means no marriage. No marriage means I just wasted my friggen time!
Even though I never took either of these girls to the alter, they are still my favorite characters. They are lovable in their own unique ways. I don't think they'll be putting these girls in any future games, but I can live with the sweet memories of Harvest Moon: Save The Homeland.

Third (?) Favorite Bachelor: Kana!I'm putting the question mark there because I'm not sure who I like better, Kana or Denny. I never married Denny, so I'm putting Kana slightly ahead. I love Kana's personality. He's very passionate and excitable, and at the same time, he's surprisingly laid-back. I like that contrast in him. He has a way of talking that's very distinct, with lots of slang. He does sound a bit like a surfer in an 80's movie, but he stands out. It's cute, okay? Kana is also incredibly sweet. Everyone makes fun of his obsession with horses, but he actually truly cares for them, especially Hayate. One of his heart events revolves around his worrying about Hayate now that she's gotten older. He also has a reverse proposal, one of only three characters in ToTT to have one. Everyone and their grandfather (sorry, Soskei >_>) can reverse propose in ANB, but it's less common in ToTT. I don't mind doing the proposing in HM, but I have to admit, having Kana propose to be was pretty special. :'D

Favorite Character 8 & 9:Kurt and Shiba
Okay, just look at these guys! They look like Vegeta from Dragonball Z just decided to spread his seeds around the Harvest Moon world. Not only do they look awsome, they are awsome people to boot. They each have their own story, and have their own roles in the games. They both look intimidating, and can easily kick your ass. But they are both good people despite their look. Allow me to talk about these awsome Characters. Kurt:
Kurt is what I call that Quiet guy. He always looks mean, but he is quite gentle and helpful. In Harvest Moon: Save The Homeland, I learned quite a bit about him while completing the endings. I wish I knew more, like why does he look so angry all the time. Does it has to do with the fact he lives at Woody's with his brother and not his parents? Where are his parents? Like Grey, Kurt is not easy to talk to. But he is a reliable person when he needs to be. His trust is hard to get, but he will open up a bit once you give him enough tomatoes. What I really love about this character is that he reminds me of myself. Quiet, looking intimidating, yet a good heart when you know that person. Shiba (Aka Shea)
I never got to know this guy, simply because he can't speak too much english. But what's awsome about him is more of what he is as opposed to who he is. His appearance inspires many fanart and fanfics of him being fierce and aggressive. Yet he is good natured and spirited. A good friend to have around in case a wild animal decides to attack. And he is one of the main fighters of my fanfic Harvest Moon: Brawl.

Nobody else is gonna show some love for the Harvest Moon Characters? Well, I still have a few more favorites to share. Favorite Character #10
LannaLanna is a Pop Idol! . . . . . . . . . . . . What? You want me to elaborate? Being a pop idol is not enough? Okay, then I'll talk a bit more then. Lanna is a pop idol with a lot of character. As soon as I saw her, I knew that I would love her. She inspired fanfiction even before the game came out. Just the idea that a farmer can marry a singer is crazy. Kinda like Farmer Joe getting married to Katie Perry. She inspired so many ideas, I even gave her a last name, Lanna Songstress. In the game, Lanna is great! She's happy, cheerful, positive, funny, and proud. She has a lot of energy, and is always doing something interesting. Besides singing, she loves to fish as a hobby. Having such different unrelated hobbies really fleshes out her personality. Lanna's love for fishing makes her simple yet time consuming to wed.

Favorite regular villager, Number Two: sourceCarter! This...probably isn't a big surprise to anyone. I adore Carter, always have, always will. He's cute and quirky and kind and intelligent. Why can't I marry him?

^ My guess? Same reason why Alisa won't marry in IoH/SI, and won't have kids in ToTT. People who worship the Harvest Goddess are prudes. Honorable Mention 2
Gina I was never a Gina fan, but I do have some place for this girl. I already mentioned that I am both a Dia and Katie fan. But Gina introduced me to those two ladies. I cannot play a game with Dia in it unless I befriend Gina too. Not to mention that Gina always appears in all my Fanfics where Dia is involved. No exceptions. I do have a fic with Dia in it, and Gina technically doesn't exist, but she is still mentioned, and there is a good reason she doesn't exist in that fic. EVen though not my favorite character, Gina is still a good friend for bringing me into my two favorite Homeland girls!

Favorite Character # 11 & 12
Mark and Chelsea These two characters are rare to the series. Like Pete and Sara from Harvest Moon: GBC3, Mark and Chelsea are playable characters who also function as marriage candidates. They are cool people in the game, and if there was a Harvest Moon: Sunshine Islands anime, these characters must end up together. Mark is my favorite playable character in the series. Mostly because the other male characters are brunettes. But it's also because he looks so much like Muffy's son. He looks so much like him, that I swear Muffy and Jack must be Canon in the Harvest Moon: AWL series. There's so much fun in his character, that I wish he took over as every playable character in the series. Chelsea is cute. Sometimes I think that Chelsea and Sara are the same person. I find it strange that all of the kids you can get look like her and not Mark. Kinda funny when you marry someone like Lanna, and all the kids look like someone who cannot even provide genes. I think Mark and Chelsea as a couple are just too cute. They have a common goal, very similar personalities, and they would probably get along great. MarkxChelsea pairing gets my seal of approval!

Chelsea is my favorite player character, though for different reasons than you. I'll give her her own post later. But for today, favorite bachelor number, um, four? Is that what I'm on? yes, the one and only Mr. Gourmet! The Gourmet first appeared in HM:64, and quickly became one of the most popular characters in the game. Many players, both male and female, expressed desire to marry this marvelous man. A few years later he reappeared in BtN, further fueling his popularity. Due to the demand of players, he became a finally became a secret marriage candidate in MFoMT. It's not easy to marry him, but oh-so worth it! A quick search of sites like DeviantArt, Tumblr, Pixiv or FF.Net only further attest to Gourmet's popularity; there are hundreds, maybe thousands of fanarts and fanfics written about him.

Favorite Character 13
Won (BTN) harvestmoonconfessions.tumblr.com/post/32597971325/i-wish-they-would-bring-won-from-mfomt-back-andWon was one of those characters who you either loved or hated. He always tries to scam you with the set of silly named apples. But in BTN, he was also useful in selling you the expensive yet profitable seeds. As a Harvest Moon character, I really liked having him around. I wish he appeared in more games, and sold you more interesting items over the years. I also want to know more about this elusive character's back story. Is he a friend or an enemy is up to your imagination. I always saw him as a good friend who gave me a deal on Pineapple seeds I used for the greenhouse. And he also makes me a ton of money in Harvest Moon: MFoMT Since I am a guy, I never looked at him and said, "hmm, that guy would make a nice marriage candidate." Even now, I always wondered why. But for those few who do like him, go get him!

NinaFavorite Villager!I will always remember the moment in AnWL when time changed, and I realized Nina had passed with it. I loved this ol' gal. She was sweet and easy to please, just give her flowers! I befriended Nina hoping her love of simple things would pass on to my kids. I was genuinely saddened to see her gone.

Favorite Character #14: Mimi!!
Mimi is one of those rare characters you don't hear about anymore. She exists in one of the worst games that exist in Harvest Moon series, Harvest Moon: DS. But don't be fooled, like some of our favorite characters, Mimi almost makes the game worth playing. She's cute, she's an acrobat, and she can inspire so much art or fiction. Sadly, this pretty circus girl is neither a marriage candidate, and she appears extremely late in the game. I only wish she was given a greater role in the Harvest Moon games. I was hoping to see her in Harvest Moon: Animal Parade, but no. But even if she is rarely seen, and not everybody knows or remembers her, she is still one of my favorite Harvest Moon Characters.
