Anyone on here playing Seeds of Memories on their iPones or iPads?
I am! I got it for my iPad 2 and it seems to be playing just fine. I really like the changes they made from The Lost Valley by adding the towns, mines, and hot springs. However I really don't like how the crops like strawberries, cucumbers, corn, tomatoes, etc don't re-grow. T^T

It looks cute, so I might get the android version when it becomes available, but I think I'll hold out for the 3ds version. Money is pretty tight

Are they going to make a 3DS version of it?

I'm not sure Natsume can do the Harvest Moon series justice. They're trying, and they might come up with something interesting eventually, but they're still just trying to capitalize off the name. That doesn't work with legends like Mario or Sonic, much less a niche title like HM.
If they ever come up with something more clever than a Farmville knockoff, it won't be for another five or ten years, at least. And it won't have any of the magic that I fell in love with, because that magic was never theirs.

I think they have potential. The Lost Valley had some great ideas and honestly, the plot was better than anything Bokojo Monogatari had had in YEARS.

I agree with Butters. While The Lost Valley wasn't much to look at it did do a good job at telling it's story. A lot of the newer games seem to lack in that. Most of them simply repeat after one another with reviving the town - to the point where we're actually building the towns now. ANB and SoS fell in this category for me. Yes they're great in graphics and fun but there's no memorable plot line. When I look back on the older titles all my favorites had some type of story plot that included reviving the farm and saving the H. Goddess in some way - HM64, BTN, MM, DS, etc. I want to do something more then just customize my farm and grow vegetables. Seeds of Memories for example is all about reminding the town about the old farm in the mountains. Or maybe even seeing why the town lost their memories in the first place. As you befriend and do specific things (like the quest system in TLV) you unlock new memories. According to the game there are 150 in total and I'm personally looking forward to doing them all. While the graphics are a step up from TLV they are still kind of bland. However they do grow on you just like TLV did. The only real beef I have with it is they took away re-grow-able crops. Things like corn, tomato, etc do not regrow. You have to keep re-buying seeds for them. But other than that I'm having a blast with it. I have a little over eight hours into and I hit level 34 in the mines.

Fair enough. I'm a bit cynical, and don't really have the budget for early adoption. Also, I'm still kinda holding a grudge about HM64's missing source code, or whatever excuse they made for it being impossible to port.

Natsume is an excellent developer in its own right. I started a thread not too long ago highlighting some of their accomplishments. Many of the titles that they put out on the NES and SNES are criminally underrated, and the Medabots franchise is still holding out in Japan. butterscotch25.proboards.com/thread/6816/non-hm-natsume-gamesI'm sure they could make a Bokojo Monogatari/SoS/Pre-2013 HM/whatever clone if they really wanted to. They're most likely just struggling to do their own thing. Remember all of the Pokemon ripoffs that came and went from the late 90s until maybe about ten years later? None of them lasted very long because they all either tried to copy Game Freak's formula too closely and/or didn't really try at all, or they did try to be original and gave it an honest effort, but what they tried was something that didn't work. Eventually, after all the unoriginal and/or lazy games like Robopon died off and honest attempts like LostMagic and Dragon Warrior/Quest Monsters failed to catch on for whatever reason, we started to see good games that were similar to Pokemon, but different enough that they found an audience: stuff like Fossil Fighters and Nintendo's own Yo-Kai Watch, the latter of which has been a runaway hit, at least in Japan. If the Natsume-designed series can survive its Robopon phase long enough to find its equivalent of Yo-Kai Watch, it will be fine. It won't be the same game, but that's what SoS is for.

On that note, do you know what I'd like to see them do?
The old-fashioned approach to farming that SoS/pre-2013 HM has taken up to this point of course has its charm, but maybe Natsume could differentiate their game by going a more modern route. The basic mechanics could remain the same, but they could give the player more land and motorized farm equipment to manage it.
Instead of a hoe, you've got a plough, a tiller instead of a scythe, a tractor to pull the former two and maybe (if you wanted to go a slightly less modern route) power machinery like saws and grain mills, a combine harvester instead of a basket, and of course, a truck instead of a horse. You could dig canals or set up sprinklers instead of having to water everything by hand every day.
On the surface, that might sound like I'm trying to take all of the work out of the game, but really what I'm proposing is that they allow the player to do more work with the same amount of effort. Maybe you could start out with crappy, half broken-down equipment that comes with the farm, and over the course of the game, you upgrade it or replace it, like you do with the tools. Upgrading your house, taking care of animals, wooing the girl, etc would largely remain the same.

Is it iOS and Android only? I've got a Windows tablet, I might want to try it.

Yeah, right now it is only for iOS and Android.
I don't think Natsume has announced a date for Wii U or PC yet.
