**Note: Because I love the cat in the DS versions, I put it in here. Hope you don’t mind. :3**
**Note: Chace = Jack. I just don’t like the name Jack. :]**
Chapter One: Spilled Apple Pie

Quickly stumbling out of bed, Chace reached for his hat. With his arm extended, and his eyes still closed tightly, he felt a wet, slobbery tongue on his hand. He slowly opened his eyes and saw two big blue doggy eyes staring back into his, while licking his hand excitedly. Chace lifted his hand slightly, and the small dog pushed to get under his hand.
“Hey boy.” Chance said with a big yawn.
He scratched the pup behind his floppy ear and yawned again. This time the dog imitated him. Chace chuckled and slowly stood up. He glanced back at his bed to see why he had fallen out so quickly. A black ball of fur was all curled up in his sheets and there were scratch marks in one of the pillows. He reached over and grabbed the ball of fur and held it up in the air. It yawned and meowed innocently.
“Yeah, wont work this time.” He nuzzled the small cat and placed her back into the bed, where she immediately curled back into a small ball.
Chace opened the front door into his small farm to start his daily work schedule: Feed livestock/poultry/horse, collect wool/milk/eggs, water plants, clear field, check mail, and collect sellable items off of the farm. But before he could even start with his daily work, Popuri was at his door. She was dressed in a plain dress, no heels, and her hair was pulled back. Her dress and hair and remnants of chicken feed and chicken feathers - she had been working early this morning.
“Hey!” She said smiling sweetly. “I have that order of chicken feed! Normally Rick would deliver it, but I felt like getting out of the coop for a bit! Hope it doesn’t bother you!”
“Of course it doesn’t! It’s nice to see you instead of your grumpy brother.” Chace smiled back and gently took the feed. “Hey! You like apple pies right?”
“Absolutely! My favorite pie everrr~ Mama used to make them before she got sick.” A sullen look crossed Popuri’s face.
“Well I should have just about 3 pies left. If you would like to take some, that is.” In hope to make Popuri smile again, he quickly went to put down the feed and pick up the pies. “Here. One for your mom, your brother, and for you of course!”
The last pie that Chace held up, the one for Popuri, had a red heart made out of red apples. And at this, Popuri grinned and blushed. She ended up turning the color of the apple and tried to cover her face with her hands. While she tried to cover her face the pies from her hands dropped and made a straight shot to the floor. Thinking quickly, Chace dove to catch the pies. He missed the last pie though, and it landed face down on the ground. Popuri, even more embarrassed now, couldn’t stop herself from laughing. She bent down, with tears in her eyes from laughing, and picked up the spilled pie.
“Well at least you caught those two.”
“Sorry…I couldn’t catch yours.”
“Oh, its alright. I loved it anyway. The heart was beautiful.”
“Haha. Well, if you aren’t too busy, I can bake another one right now.”
“Ooooh, that would be lovely! Could you really?”
“Of course.”
And with that, Chace and Popuri went back into the house where Chace baked her another pie into the sunset.
Chapter Two: What’s in a name?

“Your cat is quite lovely. What’s her name?” Popuri asked, stroking the cat lightly.
“Austen. After my childhood friend from back in the city.” The pies were still not ready because Chace was taking his time cooking them.
“That’s a pretty name. So…where you and Austen just friends…or more than friends?” She blushed ever so slightly, hoping Chace wouldn’t notice.
“Of course not. Just friends.” Chace quietly walked over to Popuri and kissed her on her forehead. She closed her eyes, hoping the moment would last forever. But the moment wouldn’t and Chace walked back to finish the pies.
“You have a dog too, don’t you?” Popuri asked, still stroking the cat.
“Yeah. He is outside. I leave him out on good days to protect my chickens and cows and sheep.” He chuckled, just now putting the pies into the oven. He set the timer, put down the gloves, and turned to Popuri. She wasn’t looking at him, but she could feel his eyes watching her. (In the Romantic way, not the creepy way) She glanced up and couldn’t put her head back down. The cat jumped down from her feet and over to the oven and watched as the pie cooked, licking her lips.
“She likes pie too?” Popuri said nervously biting her lip and not taking her eyes of Chace.
“Yeah actually. Its hard to cook with her around. She’ll eat just about anything.” Chace said jokingly, trying to lighten up the mood. But with no luck, Popuri started to blush again and was about to say something when the timer for the pies went off.
“You should probably get that.”
“Right.”
Chace lifted the pie out of the oven and pushed the cat backwards, preventing it from eating anything. He placed the pie in a box, and covered the box.
“Its my new invention. To keep Austen out I have to cover whatever food I make up and hide it.” He placed the box up on a top shelf where Austen couldn’t reach it. He grabbed Austen and walked over to Popuri. He sat next to her and let the cat jump out of his lap and into hers. Popuri laid her head on Chace’s and closed her eyes. She drifted slowly off into sleep.
Tell me what you think! :3
