I always get these two confused...Which is correct:
Popuri left the lipgloss lying on the dresser
or
Popuri left the lipgloss laying on the dresser?

This is correct.
"Lying" means to tell lies. "Laying" means to lay down.

Technically, objects are LAYED, people LIE down.

Not that I know grammar well, but you could just take out the word and it would still make sense:
"Popuri left the lipgloss on the dresser."
