I'm enjoying it, but...to be honest, I enjoyed Soul Silver more. I can't quite put my finger on what's lacking though.

I was thinking more along the lines of gameplay or plot. I actually like the new Pokemon. There are a few duds, but a LOT of the original Pokemon were kinda lame.

Too true. Too bad I heard the new ones have 649 different kinds...

They added 156 Pokemon in this generation, which makes it the largest generation ever.

Lillipup is proving to be the most useful pokemon I've ever seen. It picks up items after every battle. I've already gotten several escape ropes and an ultra ball, and I haven't even left the first city yet.

You might want to delay its evolution, Zero. It loses the pickup ability after it evolves. It's evolved forms are extremely useful, though. I'm heading for the fifth gym, and Stoutland is the strongest member of my team.

How many times did you have to reset to get a female starter?

I got it on my first try and reset it to get a male one.
Though i did luck out in the dream yard. The pokemon you get that's supposed to help you with the gym leader was of an adamant nature, the best you can get.

I never pay attention to natures. Should I? I usually just use the first of whatever species I catch.

It doesn't matter too much in-game, but if you're going to be battling competitively then the right natures/EVs/IVs can give you a huge advantage.

I was thinking more along the lines of gameplay or plot. I actually like the new Pokemon. There are a few duds, but a LOT of the original Pokemon were kinda lame. The lack of new evolved forms and pre-evolved forms of old Pokemon kind of pisses me off, to be honest. How hard would it have been to make the baby Kangaskhan a separate pokemon, or give Lapras an evolved or pre-evolved form? It's not that I think every old pokemon needs or deserves a new form, it's just that I feel like the games are losing touch with their roots. Plus, a ton of the gen 5ers are just rehashes of old ones (as cute as Purloin is, do we really NEED a 4th house cat evolutionary line?), which is somewhat frustrating considering the fact that we've yet to see Pokemon versions of some well known animals. Why no koalas, Game Freak? Why no dolphins? Iguanas? Flamingos? Heck, I'd rather see a dung beetle or a mosquito in the 6th generation than another stupid bat or dog. At least it'd be something new.
