Lately, Youtube has blown up with the amount of talk about the new games Pokemon Version X and Y. While watching these videos and learning about the games that I've skipped, I have seen some interesting things mentioned over and over.
One of the first things mentioned a LOT is the fact that Gold and Silver (plus their remakes) are the best games in the Pokemon series. The other things mentioned is the Sylveon Pokemon, and what type it may be. There are a lot of topics about this game too, but I found one thing to be the most intriguing. Many people have talked about what they expect to be added to X and Y to make the Massive improvement the series have desperately needed since Gold and Silver.
And with this, I have created my list of expectations to renew hope in the series.
This list is in no order, but they are things I want to see. Seeing at least one of these in X and Y would make my day.
#1 – Trainer Occupations:
According to rule 4 of the Pokemon world, I would love to see trainers to be more than just 12 year old boys and girls. I would love to see older trainers with actual occupations, and how their occupations affect the way the battles would carry out. In the past 5 generations, we see Pokemon trainers of all occupations like campers, scientists, hikers, swimmers, ect. fight with Pokemon. Wouldn't it be nice to start off with a blank slate, train in an actual profession, and learn trainer skills to be used along with Pokemon abilities? That would make the game AWSOME!!!!
#2 – Customizable trainers:
I hear about this a lot. And with the Pokemon games being more advanced and graphical, isn't it about time that we get to choose what our trainer looks like? I mean if Harvest Moon: A new Beginning has it, why not Pokemon? And if I am expected to go on Wi-Fi to battle, I would not like to see my clones battle me over and over and over. I wanna see people be creative and unique.
#3 – 3rd Evolution:
Since the beginning of Pokemon time, we constantly see Pokemon in their basic form, and only have 2 evolutions max. Why can't Pokemon evolve a third time? If we can discover more and more and more babies without explanation, why is a 3rd evolution so taboo?
#4 – Trainer Dating:
I know this may sound strange at first, but come on! You know you wanted it since Gen 2. In Gen 2, we had the Pokegear, the preteen Pokemon trainer cell phone where we call random trainers to talk about Pokemon and junk. When I played the game, I used to only get the girl's number, and write fanfiction about trainers dating and possibly going on Pokemon adventures together. Like Ash and Misty in the Pokemon Cartoons. Why can't you go on Pokemon adventure in pairs? In Pokemon Gen 2 and beyond, we often had to fight 2 trainers at once. If the other trainers you fight against can group and battle together, why can't you? I remember in Pokemon Fire Red, several “couple” trainers were found and battled you. I would love to see a true 2v2 Pokemon battle. Also your partner could have his/her own set of Pokemon that level independently from yours. For all those people who've been with Pokemon since Gen 2: You mean to tell me that you played Pokemon Gold/Silver, had trainer's numbers, and you mean to tell me that you didn't pretend that your trainer was dating one of the other trainers in the game? Bull****!!!
#5 – Another EPIC battle
Another mayor complaint from the old school Pokemon fans is that Pokemon Gold/Silver is the only game that had a true EPIC final Battle. The battle against Red (Some people call him Ash) was the most epic battle that made Pokemon Gold/Silver the most Epic title of Pokemon history. Some other games emulate it, but they are not the same. Gamefreak needs to bring back YOUR old character, place him/her in an EPIC setting, and fight Pokemon of insane levels and strategy. I want to see this again!
Well, that's my thoughts. What would you want to see in the new games Pokemon X and Y?

A few things:
- player customization; like Jux said, I think, it would be pretty fun.
- scale back the evil Teams. I know Game Freak keeps trying to outdo themselves with each generation, but they're getting over the top now
-having your Pokemon walk behind you. I miss this so much. It was the greatest thing ever and why did they bring it back after ten years and then take it away again ;_;
-also, it'd be great if the fire starter didn't evolve it fire/fighting for a change.

Another thing that needs to happen is this:
#6 - EVs and IVs need to go away!
If you don't know what these are, then you're fine. But this needs to disappear for those who do know what they are. EVs and IVs are known ways that players of the Pokemon world use to cheat. And no, I am not talking about the trainers who actually spend the months/years getting perfect Pokemon by taking advantage of these systems. I am talking about the trainers using gameshark to alter the Pokemon to have perfect stats, and claim that they were lucky. According to Gamefreak, cheating this way is technically legal since there is no way to determine if the scored were gathered legitly or using outside software. If the EVs and IV's don't exist, then we can play the pokemon game more fairly. Using the Pokemon's NATURAL strengths and weaknesses instead of some complex mathematical mumbo-jumbo to make Pokemon so powerful, legendaries are just useless.

I'll agree on the min-maxing, if only because of the arrogant bastards that tend to exploit those kinds of systems. My life is stressful enough without turning a video game into a second job, thank you.
Beyond that, I would want to see the battling system get an overhaul. When last I played (Diamond Version), battling was just the same old brute-force one-on-one focus that's been mainstream since Red/Blue versions. There's nothing wrong with this when you're in your teens and the whole idea is still fresh, but that was ten years ago for me. Best game I've played in the series since was Colosseum, where all the battles were forced 2-on-2 with a very limited pool to draw from.
Maybe it's just me, but there's something pleasant about using all of those "useless" moves that get ignored in single battles...

#7 - Pokemon Personalities need to go away, or changed.
Another thing that must go away is the Personalities. At first, the idea looked great. Each Pokemon is unique and have relative strengths and weaknesses. Until you try to catch Pokemon, and I want to break my GBA into pieces.
Personalities are the part introduced in Gen 3 that gives bonuses and penalties to Pokemon based on their personality. I wouldn't mind this so much if it wasn't for the fact that it's uncontrollable.
I mean here I am catching a Poochyena so I can have a balanced team. What's the Problem? After about an hour of training it, I realize that the personality system exist in this game. I forgot about it, so I checked my Pokemon. I learned that it was serious natured. Not too bad, but remember that Pochyena is Dark type. It's natural stat is Strength, and Dark uses Special attack. (I know that this has changed, and all skills are now different in which skill uses what stat, but we are talking about gen 3). Special attack is low for Poochyena and Mightyena, so I must have it be Modest to be decent in battle. Now I must waste so many Pokeballs to try to recapture a Poochyena with the proper Personality. Not to mention that I wasted over an hour's time training a Pokemon I no longer want.
I also have the Pokemon Mudkip. I checked it's stats, and learned that it's Jolly natured. This made me angry, since Jolly raises speed and lowers special attack. As a water/ground type, I like my attack/defence/Special attack scores high. What makes things worse is that I cannot just catch a new Mudkip. What I got is what I got, and I can't do anything about it until I breed a new one with the proper personality. Unless I start the game over and over and over until a proper Pokemon is given to me. Hours of wasted time for crappy pokemon.
The only way that the Personality feature can be revised and made tolerable is to completely scrap any and all penalties, and have a lighter reward. Example: Only make Jolly raise 5% speed. +10% speed and -10% special attack is no good. Re-capturing Pokemon after that is a matter of choice, not obligation.
