Has anyone tried the Natsume game yet, I've heard it's quite cute and extremely customizable.

I got it for my birthday last year. I enjoyed it; it was cute, had an enjoyable plot and likeable characters. TBH, I enjoyed TLV more than quite a few actual Harvest Moon games.
That said, I much preferred Story of Seasons.

I think TLV is a little cheaper, maybe ten dollars or so? So if money is super tight, I'd go with TLV, but if you have the money, I'd recommend Story of Seasons.

I haven't had the chance to see what Natsume's attempt at an HM title is like, but I actually liked SoS. It feels more like some of the old HM titles did.
Neither game is perfect, but I think the franchise is going to improve without Natsume around to water the titles down in localization. And who knows? Natsume might make a reasonable competitor series. Sort of a Pepsi-to-Coke thing.

I think I'll go with TLV for now, more in my budget. But I might grab SoS later. And I am trading my DSCute. It won't go for much but it gets it out of my game case.

Because of all my Harvest Moon collection, it's the only one I've tried to play multiple times and just can't get into. I think it's just too big. Too many fields, too much land to cross, too easy to make oddles of cash. I keep trying and keep tossing it aside. I figure I can clear a spot in my case and I literally never enjoy it, no matter how hard I try.

Kind of late, but I think TLV is absolutely adorable. I mean it's kind of a step down in the art department but the fact that it has an enjoyable storyline is what really sold it for me. I also really liked how simple they made it. It was kind of like going back to the original games where you could only do so much.
ANB and SOS are both nice but I think they're a lot of work and give you far too much to do. That and the plot lines aren't really that strong - at least not to me though I'm sure some people would argue me on that.
The only thing I loath about TLV truthfully was the hybrid crops. Depending on how high or low the elevation is will depend on the kind of crop you get. I know on Fogu some members were getting really into it, but I just kind of play around and hope I get the crop I need for the requests. >.>
