Chapter One: Life On The Farm
Day after day, I do the same thing. My life is dull and boring, maybe because I never go out looking for an adventure. Every single night when I am in my room I can hear my mother and father screaming at each other. My father repeats every night, “You do nothing around this farm you worthless piece of crap ” My mother then bursts into tears, and runs out of the house claiming she will never return. She always comes back the next day though, knowing she doesn’t have money to go anywhere else. Mother and father have never loved each other, they only got married because of “the accident” as they call me. Seventeen years after their marriage, and no one is dead. That’s amazing.
“Stupid girl, go take care of the farm!” my father would growl at 6:00 in the morning. I would get up, without eating, and take care of the farm. I have to say, I didn’t have many friends, except for Ann. For some reason, we were connected in some way. I would occasionally stop over to talk or go shopping. To most of the other people in town I just mumbled a small greeting. Only Ann knew about my parents’ fights, and how I felt about my life. I hated my life, always being treated the wrong way. My father never hit me of course, but he treated me as though I wasn’t part of the family. As if I was a slave.
Today will be different though. I thought to myself. I rose from my bed and walked out into the kitchen to find father sleeping peacefully. Mother was probably outside somewhere, making her way back to the house from wherever she slept when she ran away. Today I want to be more cheerful. Start over. But as my father woke up, these thoughts soon faded.
“Get to work.” he grumbled, sliding off the bed. I did as I was told and went out into the barn to milk the cows. I milked all 16 of our cows, and then went to see the chickens. Why doesn’t he work for once in his life? I asked myself, while carrying a couple eggs over to the shipping bin. Two eggs dropped and broke, leaving a yolky mess on the floor. I cursed under my breath, and went to water the plants.
“Hey Shelly.” I heard a familiar voice say from behind me. I watered my last turnip and turned around to face Ann. “Want to sleep over tonight?” I was a little surprised at this invitation, considering Ann and I had never talked about a sleep over.
“Yeah, sure, sounds great.” I said, smiling broadly at her. “See you later.” I added. And with that, she spun on her heel and left the farm. Wow, a sleep over. Maybe today would be different from all the others. Today is a new beginning. I walked happily inside to see mother and father sitting at the table. Father was obviously drunk, looking like he was ready to pass out. Mother just sat there, her eyes following me across the room as I made my way over to them. I sat beside father, who was now almost asleep.
“I’m staying over at Ann’s tonight.” I told them. My mother nodded, and father ignored me. His eyes shot open and then he glared at me.
“Did you get those cabbage seeds I wanted?” he demanded an answer.
“You never told me to get any...” I answered nervously. I could see a flame in his eyes, burning powerfully. He has never acted this strange before...though he is drunk. He stood up beside me mumbling, “Stupid girl, you are worthless.” Then, he slapped me, right across the face. I fell off my chair onto the floor, in a screaming and crying mess. I held my cheek, hoping the pain would go away. My cheek wasn’t as hurt as my heart was though. My mother quickly rushed to my side. Father walked out leaving us in the house alone. Mother embraced me, but I broke away and ran to my room. How could he do this, I asked myself. I was right when I said today would be different. I grabbed my pink bag and started packing all my belongings. I had packed everything except for my most prized possession, which I held in my hands. I ran my fingers over the smooth surface of the golden brown music box. "I will come back. Please, take this and never forget me." The words of my best friend rang throughout my head. What was his name? After 10 years, the memories of him had faded away slowly. The only thing I could remember were his soft brown eyes. He never did come back, not yet at least. I stuffed the music box into my bag, and left the house.
“Please, don’t leave me!” I could hear my mother call out as I left. “Shelly, come back!” I pushed all of the bad thoughts swirling around in my head out of my mind, and tried to concentrate on the road. I could feel Rick’s eyes drilling into the back of my head as I walked past their farm, but acted like I hadn’t noticed. I arrived at the Inn around 7:00, and Ann was there to greet me.
“Hola amiga!” she chirped as I stepped inside. I replied with a smile, not knowing how to answer that in spanish. She grabbed my arm and pulled me all the way to her room. “Here it is!” she exclaimed, pushing the door open. It was the most wonderful room my eyes had seen. Pink walls, pink carpet, pink bed spread...pink everything Now I knew, there truly was a girly side to Ann.
“Wow, this is wonderful!” I said, dropping my bags at the foot of her bed. She smiled and sat down on the floor, and I followed her actions.
“I’m so glad your spending the night with me I have no friends that like to rent rooms.” she said enthusiastically. My smile soon turning into a frown, and she tilted her head in question. “What’s wrong?”
“Let’s just say, I will be staying in a room for a while.” I replied.

I bet your fanfic is good too! I think every fanfic is good if I can atleast understand the point of what the people are trying to say. Here is more...
Chapter Two: My Roommate
Ann was very saddened by my story, and comforted me. I knew she was glad that I would be staying at the Inn, though. Something soon lit up her face, and she beamed. I tilted my head and waited for her to say something.
"Come with me!" she squealed, grabbing my arm and dragging me out of the room. We rushed up the stairs and over to Gray's room. The door was wide open and he was inside sitting on his bed, staring at the ceiling. I soon looked up too, to see what was so interesting. Nothing was there. "I got you a roommate!" Ann said pushing me into the room. Gray looked over and frowned.
"I didn't ask for a roommate, Ann." he snapped. "Does she have to stay with me? Why can't she be rooming with Cliff?" Gray complained, sitting up on the bed.
"I don't want her getting any ideas." Ann replied. "Cliff is MINE. You can have this one, though. What's so wrong about that? Look, she's sad you don't like her." I stuck out my bottom lip and gave him the puppy face. He rolled his eyes, and I could see him trying to hide a smile. He mumbled, "Whatever..."
As soon as Ann and I returned to her room I started giggling. "I think he is so cute...the way he is so shy and rude." I sighed. Ann frowned at this and hit me playfully.
"Why? Don't you like nice friendly guys?" Ann asked. I shrugged and sat down on the edge of her bed.
"Yeah, I do." I answered. "It's just..."
"You love the bad boy attitude?" Ann giggled. I nodded insanely, and giggled along with her. "I guess his attitude does make him cute. But my Cliffie is cuter..." she bragged. "Whatever..." I sighed in reply. She wasn't even going out with Cliff, so why did she call him hers? Yes, Cliff was very cute...but so was Gray. Cliff is always so depressed, I don't think I could handle someone like that.
"Hey guys, whats up?" Cliff asked from the doorway of Ann's room. We bothed looked over and blushed. Ann started to stutter, and I could just stare.
"N-nothing." I finally got out. "W-what's up with you?" I laughed nervously. He smiled and came to sit beside Ann on the floor. He sighed and then replied, "Nothing much. But I overheard you two talking to Gray in the next room." Ann looked quite surprised, and hit him playfully.
"You overheard...or you eavesdropped?" she asked slyly. Cliff smirked and replied, "Eavesdropped." Ann and I both giggled. Once there was silence after the giggling, Cliff mocked us with fake girly giggles.
"You goof." I laughed. He stood up and went to the doorway, and then looked back. He put a hand on his hip and took out his pony tail so his hair flowed down near his shoulders.
"It's my job to be a goof, Hun." He said in a mock womens voice. "By the way, I just saw this totally awesome mini skirt on sale at the super market It was fluffy and pink...but I think Rick just bought the last one." He then flipped his hair over his shoulder and exited the room.
"Wow, Ann..." I laughed. "Sometimes Cliff scares me." She nodded in agreement and laughed too.

I like Gray too, but I think Cliff is SO much better. Sorry, as you can tell, I'm Cliff obssessed. ^_^ Here is another chapter!
Chapter Three: Scary Movie
Ann and I decided to make some popcorn and gossip for a while. We went into the kitchen and sat at the table.
"I should call Manna over..." Ann said. "She is the town gossiper. I wonder how she knows everything?"
"Mind Powers?" I suggested. We laughed and started on the popcorn. "So what good gossip have you heard lately?" Ann thought for a second and popped a couple pieces of popcorn in her mouth. Her face lit up sudden;y and she squealed.
"I heard Tim and Elli are going on a date tonight!" Ann said excitedly. "LET'S SPY ON THEM!" I bowed my head and tried to think for a second. I looked over at Ann which was impatiently fidgeting in her seat. I sighed and then rested my head on my hand.
"But it's so mean..." I said sadly. "YET SO FUN! Let's go!" I grabbed Ann's arm and we casually walked out into the bar. Elli and Tim sat at a table in the corner, and Cliff and Gray sat together in another corner. Ann and I took the table closest to Elli and Tim and started to eat the popcorn we brung so we didn't have to talk to each other, just listen to Elli and Tim.
"Do you like this place?" Tim asked, glancing around the room. Elli weakly smiled and nodded.
"Yeah, but last time I got a drink, I got way to drunk!" she giggled. A sly grin formed on Tim's face. "I remember you had to carry me home after I made out with you, and then fainted." They smiled and each other. Ann and I stuffed our mouths full with popcorn so we couldn't laugh at Elli and Tim.
"Uo ook ike a hipmonk." I tried to tell Ann with my mouth full. I swallowed and then said, "Sorry, what I said was, you look like a chipmunk." Ann swallowed and laughed at me. Once our giggled subsided I could hear Cliff across the room mocking our giggles agaiin.
"Dude, your scaring me." Gray then said. "Were you born a girl?" Cliff glared at him and Ann and I started laughing. We got up from our table with the popcorn and went over to theirs and sat down with them.
"Cliff, you know those pink fluffy mini skirts at the super market?" I asked. He nodded and smiled at me. "Well, I heard that Rick was dressing up like a girl and hitting on guys." We all started laughing, but someone from the entrance of the Inn said, "I was not!"
Rick strutted over wearing hot pink lipstick, dark red eye shadow, with black eye liner. His top was a pink halter, and then he was wearing the pink fluffy skirt with it. He stood between Ann and I, but I moved my chair so my shoulder was almost touching Gray's.
"Are you...feeling okay?" Gray then asked. Rick brushed his long hair back behind his shoulder and let out a gasp.
"Of course I am okay." he stated, rolling his eyes. He sighed and went over to the bar to get a drink. We all looked at each other and stifled our laughs. In the corner of the room Elli and Tim were staring at Rick with their mouths hung open. Ann and I got up and waved to the guys. We went back into her bedroom and popped in the movie "The Ring." We watched it for a little while, shivering at all the scary parts. At the end of the movie Ann and I were relieved, and sighed.
The phone suddenly rang and Ann slowly answered it. She put the reciever up to her face and said, "H-hello...?"
"Seven days...seven days..." I could hear the voice tell her from the other end. She hung up the reciever and we both let out a shrill scream. After we were done screaming we heard loud and obnoxious laughter come from upstairs.
"They got us good..." I mumbled. Ann nodded and then a twisted smile formed on her face.
"And we are going to get them good too." We both grinned.
After midnight, mostly everyone was alseep, except for Doug which was in his room. Ann and I tiptoed up into mine and Gray's room, and got makeup out of my suitcase. We both went over to Gray which was sleeping soundly, and applied bright red lipstick to his lips, and dark blue eye shadow. I then put some pink lipstick on and kissed his cheek to show it was my work.
We stifled our giggles and went over to Cliff's room, which was locked. I frowned but Ann took out a key, and smiled. I giggled softly and we entered the room after she unlocked it. Ann and I gave him a makeover of black lip stick and black eye shadow. We think Cliff should go goth. Ann put on some red lipstick and kissed Cliff on the cheek.
We went back over to mine and Gray's room and put the makeup back. We then went downstairs, giggling insanely.

Chapter Four: Smile
"Ann! Shelly!" Cliff screeched, bursting into the room. We sat up and rubbed the sleep from our eyes and looked at Cliff which still had his make up on. "I-I look like a girl!" Ann and I started to giggle at him and Gray soon appeared behind him, wearing his make up also. Cliff and Gray looked at each other and let out shrill screams. They fled from the doorway, and back upstairs.
"I told you we would get them good." Ann laughed. "They were totally freaked out." We both got dressed into our clothes for the day, and I went upstairs to my room.
"I don't know how to get it off!" Gray shrieked to Cliff. They both looked very worried and then saw me in the doorway. "How do you get this stuff off?" they both asked in unison.
"That's for me to know, and for you to find out." I answered. They both looked disappointed and then went back to thinking of how to get the makeup off.
"I got it!" Cliff said happily. He then went over to my bag and started throwing stuff out of it. My pants, shirts, bra's, and underwear ended up all over the floor. "There has to be makeup remover somewhere in here!" I went over and pinched Cliff.
"Excuse me, but I believe you are throwing all my clothes on the floor." I said, placing my hands on my hips. "I would advise you clean the mess up. I will get the makeup remover." Cliff looked around and started to blush at the mess he made. He scratched the back of his head and ran out of the room.
"Please, I didn't make the mess! Get the stuff out!" Gray pleaded. I rolled my eyes and handed him the makeup remover I fished out of the bag. He smiled at me and went into the bathroom. I cleaned up the mess and sat on the bed, waiting for Gray to come back out. "It worked!" he exclaimed happily.
"Well it is called make up remover!" I replied. I laughed and he threw the bottle back to me and immediatly frowned, like he usually does. "Why do you always look so depressed? Can't you ever smile?"
"No, it would brake my face." he replied nastily. "I don't see how you can manage to do it all day long." he shot me a glare.
"I like it better when you smile though." I said sweetly.
"Great, gives me more reason to frown." he replied. He then walked out of the room. I just sat there, staring at the doorway. What a jerk... I thought to myself. How will I be able to stand living with him? Cliff then walked in and looked at me sitting on the bed.
"What did you say to Gray?" he asked. "He looked really ticked when he left. If I were you, I wouldn't make him mad."
"I didn't do a thing to make him mad." I said innocently. Cliff took the bottle I was holding and went into the bathroom. "Why does Gray have such a bad attitude?" I called.
"I don't know!" Cliff called back. "But once you get to know him, he can be a really nice guy." Yeah, sure.... I told myself sarcastically.
