okay, here it is:
A Fan Fic With No Title
Prologue
“Grandpa……..” I said, sitting next to his bed, “Please just transfer to a hospital; you’ll get better if you go there.”
“No, no……. I was born here…… and I must die here……….” He responded.
“Please…….”
“Kimberly……..”
“What is it?”
I leaned my head closer and struggled hear his words. I nodded when he finished and clasped his hand. My grandfather gave me one last smile, before closing his eyes and releasing his spirit from his body. Tears started streaming down my face as I wept over his lifeless body…….
Chapter One
I yawned as I sat up in bed and realized it was morning. “Better get to work,” I mumbled as I forced myself off the bed and began dressing. I was wearing pretty much the same clothes as the day before: overalls with a long sleaved, checkered shirt. I put on my socks and old brown shoes, and tied my black hair into a bun, then headed out to my new farm.
A couple days ago, I had agreed to take over the farm my grandfather left to me after he had died a few weeks ago. It was located in his home town; a place I hadn’t been to since I was five. It was a big change from the city, but I owed it to my grandfather; he was the relative closest to me. My father was a lawyer and never spent much time at home, and my mother never paid much attention to me; she was too busy worrying over finances. Because of that, I never went to college. My mother said she didn’t want to waste money on it. I didn’t have any siblings either.
My grandfather and I would always write to each other and he occasionally came over to my home to visit me. I had only been to his farm twice: when I was five and on the day he died. I was so close to him and it really saddened me when he died. Since no one wanted his run down farm, it was my duty to take care of it, to honor his life.
So, here I was on my second day as a farmer, not having a clue about farming, but willing to give it my all. As I stepped outside my door, I felt a nice, warm breeze brush against me. ‘Spring is such a nice season,’ I thought to myself. I smiled as I pulled out my hammer to crush some stones. I lifted the hammer high above my head and….. it started raining. ‘Spring is such a bad season,’ I thought bitterly, as I was getting drenched. I sighed and continued my work. After all, a farmer is never allowed a day off, right? Besides, it’s not like there was anything to do in my house, or should I say one-roomed shack. All I had was a pathetic four channel TV (which had no entertainment channel, I might add), and a few of Grandpa’s old farming notes. None of which interested me.
So I smashed some stones, and chopped up some wood, until it was about 12:00 pm. After that, I petted my new colt I got from Ann and her father the previous day. When that was done, I decided to visit Ann at her ranch, which was located near my farm. I walked through the arch, said “hello” to the postman, Harris, and entered the barn, where I expected Ann to be. Sure enough, there was Ann, along with her anti-social brother, Gray, brushing the livestock.
“Good morning, Gray!” said cheerfully.
He just gave me a weird look and went back to his brushing. I supposed the look was because I was completely drenched in water, from head to toe.
“Hey, Sakura!” Ann said, waving her brush at me.
“Hi!” I said back.
“Looks like you got a little wet back there,” she chuckled.
“ ‘A little wet’ is an understatement.”
Ann just laughed and offered me her brush.
“Wanna help?” she asked.
“Okay,” I said, taking up the offer.
I took the brush, and Ann pulled a new one out of her pocket.
“Do you always carry around a spare brush?” I asked.
“Only on rainy days,” she answered seriously.
I gave her a strange look, then shook my head and continued brushing.
gah, the prologue is horrible. oh, well. anyways, like i said before, i don't know if i'll update it often or even finish it. and since i've never finished more than one, i wouldn't get your hopes up. -_-'
