This is my story.....not as good as some people's but I like it so I posted it
I was looking in the mirror, thinking of why the girls in the town made fun of me so much. I started to twirl my long pink hair then I hear my mom yell Popuri, dinner is done.
I sat down at the kitchen table trying to eat my food as fast as I could. “Wow Popuri, You might want to slow down,” laughed my brother Rick. “Why are you in such a hurry?” asked my mom. “I just want to go upstairs,” I replied. “Is there something wrong?” She asked. ”No just every thing in the world!” I yell. ”Karen and Ann were making fun of me!” I shouted trying not to cry, “What did they say?” Rick asked. “They said my big eyes are scary, and my hair is freaky and I am just ugly and poor,” I said. “Why didn’t you beat them up?” asked Rick ”This is not like you to just take it like that,” letting out a groan my mom said “Stop it Rick! Don’t get you sister in trouble,”
I ran up stairs and sat on my bed, I was sitting there thinking about what Rick said. And that is just what they will get. I said looking around my room with an evil look in my eyes.
I got up and walked over too my desk and started to draw. I tapped my pencil on the paper trying to think of new ideas my arms grew weak and I could not hold up my head. I fell a sleep on my desk. In my dream I tried to fight with the girls and they ended up beating me up. I woke up crying and screaming. My mom came running in the room out of breath and asked if every thing was all right. I told her that I had a bad dream. “You where screaming, Popuri what’s wrong?” She asked. “I don't know,” I said, “I think it is stress,” rubbing my back worriedly mother said, “If you ever need to talk you can always come to me,”
I got up and went over to my bed; I pulled the covers over my head and fell asleep. I woke up with a smile on my face.
I went down stairs to tell mom that I was going to the town square but to my surprise she said “No, you are not going down there,” “But mom!” I shouted, “Please,” sighing my mom said, “Go,” then I ran out the door before she could change her mind
I was walking down to the town square when I heard a little thunder. I kept on going thinking nothing of it. I could hear my shoes go clump, clump on the small brick road. There was only room for two people on that road. Since it was a little town with one store and an Inn Karen’s parents owned the store and the Inn, Ann and her dad own it.
I then got to the town square I saw Karen and Ann there Karen stood up and put her hands on her hips and laughed really hard, “What is up with that outfit?” she said, “It looks like you live in it and you wear it every day!” clenching my fists I try to keep my temper and said, “I do not wear it ever day thank you very much, Karen” smirking Ann joined in, “Then why do you always have it on? Karen smiled at the addition and said, “She can't afford anything else that’s why she’s always wearing that ugly dress,”
Unfortunately that was the last straw, swinging my arm back I hit her right in the face. “I am not poor!” I screamed, unlike Karen Ann wasn’t so fazed and continued ribbing me, “Well my best friend isn’t a chicken!” I just stood there trying not to cry. “I have a good job so I don't have to work at the family poultry farm!” smiling she began jumping back and forth shouting "cluck" "cluck". Feeling my eyes well up with tear I try to stop her mocking voice, “We were friends before, Ann,” laughing she helped Karen up and the two of them walked away.
I ran away crying. Then of all things that could go wrong it started to rain. I looked up and saw the sky was black and I heard the thunder. A bolt of lightning hit a tree. I covered my head and finally looked up the tree was one fire. I started to run as I could hear the winds roar. The wind kept pushing me back it felt like I would never get home. I saw someone standing in the road; I started to run up to them. I could not see who it was because the rain was coming down so hard.
I got up to them and saw that it was Rick. He had a blanket in one hand. He unfolded it and put it over me we started to walk home when a tree fell right in front of us. A few of the branches hit me. Rick went on going I stood there and said to my self, “Thank you God,” I knew the cuts on my face were pretty bad but not as bad as being under that tree. By now the blanket was wet and cold. Rick came and helped me get over the tree
Once we got home we found we couldn’t open the door, because the wind was too strong. We both cried, shouting for us to move back, our Mom pushed the door open and we ran in.
“Mom where are the chickens?” I asked, looking at me tearfully she said, “They’re still out there, I couldn’t get them in,” gasping worriedly Rick and me ran out the door to save them.
We had a few in our arms but many we could not get to. These chickens are like family. Most were going to die. But the ones that we could save were in the house now. We got a lot of pillows and blankets and put them on the floor. The three of us sat down with the chickens. Mom was singing to them to calm them down.
Then we all heard this big bang. A tree had fallen again. I ran up stairs to get the picture of mom, dad, rick and me. That was the only picture of dad we have I started to think if he would ever come home. I sat back down. “Don’t go up stair ok?” mom asked. That’s when everything started to get worse, things started to hit our house and the windows broke. We all put the covers over the chickens and us. Then the roof came off part of the house. After a few hours everything started to calm down slowly, all of the stuff up stairs was gone. The light was shining down what remained of our staircase showing that it was morning.
Rick and me went outside to see what had happen and if every thing was all right. “Popuri” shouted Rick pointing to the sky, “Look!” I looked up and saw the most beautiful rainbow. Rick went inside to tell mom to come and look. I looked up again and for the first time in forever I smiled, “Thank you God,” I said, “For keeping our family safe,”
