Author's note:
My first fic so if it's bad, just give me a few pointers, please. A tribute Graire and winter. It's very, very short. Just a quick, feel-good read.
Title: Snow and Mistletoe
I loved winter for a lot of reasons. Snow being one of them.
I giggled like an idiot in front of my stupid shack door with my tongue stuck out and my eyes closed. Isn't weird how somebody who claims to hate all kinds of weather (it's too hot, too cold, too sunny, too rainy) can love frozen dust and liquid?
I stood on my tip toes, extending my tongue until a teeny tiny snowflake came to rest on the tip, melting quickly.
In the city, snow was gross. It was gray and sloppy and had soot and oil and other nasty stuff in it. I slipped and slid down the icy street corners and side walks, avoiding the disgusting mush.
But here. . . it was different. It was soft and powdery and untouched and clean. It made you want to touch it.
It seemed like my life now.
I don't usually sound deep but here my life was guiltless and new like the freshly fallen snow. I hadn't made a lot of mistakes or a least I hadn't done anything unforgivable. In the city, where I had smoked and fought and just been mean. my life had been like the gray, sooty mush. Now I felt pure.
"Hey, Claire? What are you doing?" A familiar voice that made a flush of warmth bloom in the middle of my chest startled me.
Gray, blacksmith apprentice, stood watching me from the sign that read, Happy Hearts Ranch.
I glared at him and put my attitude back on like a coat.
"Kicking this darn snow off my place mat! I swear the dang stuff is everywhere!" I growled.
No ever had to no that pessimistic little Claire loved something as silly as a little snow. . .
"Want some help with that?" He gave me a crooked grin before pulling his hat over his eyes.
"Yeah, I think there's something stuck above my door, too. Since you're so tall and handsome," I said, my voice teasing, "Do you think you can get it for me?"
"Yeah, sure." He said lightly and strolled over to me. His body felt warm next to mine. I flushed.
He reached above my head, so I was pressed against the door, his chest was right in my face and I could smell his shower gel. Eep.
"Hey, Claire?" He said, his voice gentle and kind.
"Y-y-yeah?" This was a fool-proof plan, Ann had assured me, but I was still nervous.
"You took this mistletoe from the Inn and put it up here, didn't you?" He asked, his face now only centimeters away from my own. He was blushing himself.
"I have no idea what your imply-"
I didn't finish my sentence because Gray's mouth caught my own. I mumbled the '-ing' into his mouth and he ended the kiss. His lips now brushed my ear, his chin on my shoulder. He chuckled softly.
There are lots of reasons I love winter. Snow being one of them and. . .
Mistletoe being a favorite.
Author's note:
Did I do alright? Please tell me what you think! I know it's really short. It's kind of like practice. I'm not going to start a long-fic until I've had more experience.
Thanks for reading! ;D

I liked it. I wish it had been just a little longer but you write pretty well.

Wow, I really like it! One of the reasons is that it bring back memories of a time I felt similar to the first half. When my mother bought that house in the countryside, and the snow was pure white. I loved those days of my early teenage years. I would give just about anything to have them back.
Thanks for the wonderful warm read.

Heh, very classic plot device, but you used a nice approach to it. I like it, the introspective part at the start was very well done!
