The announcement of this game had many of the guys at my college literally SQUEALING like fangirls. I had a fanboy moment, but did not squeal.
Confirmed characters: Ryu, Morrigan, Chris Redfield, Wolverine, Iron Man, Hulk
Possible Characters: Frank West, Phoenix Wright, Deadpool, Felicia, Chun-Li, Magneto, Spider-Man, Charlie

How can they NOT include Spider-Man?
As Stan Lee put it years ago (and with Disney's recent acquisition of Marvel, it's all the more appropriate), Spidey is to Marvel as Mickey Mouse is to Disney. He's their flagship character!
Fighting games aren't really my thing (I even suck at Smash Bros.), but I do like this series, simply because of all of the Marvel characters. I still remember playing the original for the first time years ago at a casino in Stateline. There aren't too many good arcades around here, though, so I hardly ever see any of the games in the Vs. Capcom series.
There are a couple of good ones that I've discovered in Reno recently, hopefully at least one of them will get this new machine.

...PHOENIX WRIGHT?! As much as I love him...What?! Phoenix Wright and Franziska von Karma were both slated to appear in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. Mr. Wright would have his classic 'objection', 'hold it' and 'take that' shout phrases and stuff as his attacks. In japan, it would've made sense, as in Kanji the letter bubble would be very short. In English however, the word is just too long and would be unfair and pretty much an always hit attack. If they couldn't include the main character, Von Karma got scrapped as well, despite the fact that she would've done fine with her whip. |

Capcom's done a lot of crazy stuff lately, especially with the Vs. series, like having Megaman Volnutt (the version of Megaman from the somewhat ill-fated Legends series) instead of a version of Megaman that people are more familiar with, as a playable character in Tatsunoko.  |

Well, we got ourselves the main villain, Dorrumaru (spelling needed),
Other new characters are Dante, Deadpool, Cap America, Felicia, Chun-Li and quite possibly Frank West and Albert Wesker
Do not expect to see Fantastic 4, Tyrant or Nemesis(from Resident Evil), or Amingo from MVC2. They were all rejected.

I saw the video with Dante and Deadpool fighting
It is awesome.
And the reason they don't have the Fantastic 4 in is because they choose to use the Super Scroll. Saves on Character room.
And it was all but leaked that Megaman X shall be in this game. *Squeels*

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I saw this in an online article:
Seth Killian confirmed that Mega Man X will not appear as a playable character, and also pointed out that some of the characters shown as silhouettes may not be in the game anymore.[20]

We now have Spider-Man, Wesker, Thor, Viewtiful Joe, Amaterasu, Dr.Doom, Super-Skrull, Trish, Tron Bonne, X-23.....still need another megaman character.
Or Phoenix Wright.....

All characters have been released now. Storm, Mike Haggar, Zero, Phoenix(from Marvel), Hisen-ko and Sentinel, C.Viper, Arthur, Magneto, Spencer(Bionic Commando), Jill Valentine and Shuma-Gorath. (In addition to all the characters from earlier posts)
Frank West will be a DLC character, because in late production, he was taken out in favor of Hisen-Ko
