My roommate's cat seems to think...

This is Ninja, my roommate Kris's cat.



This is the set of Pokemon plushies that I have display in our living room, a Bulbasaur, a Charmander, and a Squirtle. I won them individually out of a crane game at Wal-Mart over the course of several weeks, back when I was living in Carson City.



The plushies rest on top of a DVD player, which is on top of my roommate's stereo, which is on top of the entertainment center. They're about 6 feet above the floor.



Last night, I discovered them on the floor of the room where we keep his kitty tent and scratching post. Squirtle and Charmander had even been moved into the tent!
(I put them back in so that I could show you how I found them)

I put them back where they belong, and asked Kris about it. He sweared that he hadn't touched them, so the only other explanation was Ninja. It's not that I didn't believe Kris, he seemed to telling the truth, it just seemed so bizarre. Sure, Ninja has been known to play with (and even move) our stuff around before, but the idea that he had climbed all the way up there, and moved them across the house one by one seemed somewhat ridiculous. There was a lingering thought in the back of my mind that Kris was just messing with me.

But then we caught Ninja actually trying to do it! In fact, he's tried to steal them many times since then! He's been jumping onto that side table seen on the left side of the third picture, hopping onto the entertainment center from there, and then reaching up to grab the pokemon from the top of the DVD player with his mouth. Kris and I have caught him in the act every time, and scared him off before he could drag one of them away, but he's gotten close. If he tries it again, I'll see if I can't get a picture of it.

I dunno if he's just doing it for attention, or if he wants to cuddle with them. It's possible, he's been known to play with other stuffed animals. In any case, he's probably lonely, and so I feel kind of bad for him. We've only lived in this apartment for a couple of months, and before we moved in, Kris (and Ninja) lived with his mom and stepdad, who have two cats and a dog, so the little guy's used to being around other critters. I might bring back an old stuffed animal for him to play with the next time I visit my parents.

I just thought it was funny.
