I would be either electric or ground. Electric would be fun because I could make all sorts of terrible puns. And some of my favorite Pokemon are electric types.
But I've had a fondness for ground types ever since Pokemon Blue. I adored my Sandslash, and I've included a ground type as a major part of every team I've formed ever since.

I'd use either Dark or Psychic Types. I really wish that the Pokemon games would include a Dark-type Gym somewhere, and I rather like the whole 'evil' persona one can build if one specializes in Dark-type Pokemon...
Well, provided you don't get into some stupid punk or goth styling, anyway...
Psychic's my second choice, both for the cold demeanor of most Psychic trainers and the near-unstoppable techniques that Psychic-types specialize in. Even after 15 years, Alakazam is still so satisfying to have on your side...
I like the way Dragon trainers dress, but Dragon-types are a little hard to find, and not as useful as they first seem...

Ghost and Dragon. Because I like paranormal horror and I like dragons.
Yes, I am aware of the weaknesses, but it's still fun.

Flying. Hands down.
I even had a dream when I was younger that I was a Flying-type leader. This was back before Gold and Silver came out, but my badge actually looked a lot like the Zephyr Badge.
