Just a little something I started last night. ^^''
Scrambled Eggs “Nothing good, comes from a letter.”
Chapter 1:
I can’t really say I was surprised the day the letter came. I mean deep down I knew that old man wasn’t going to last forever; he was practically ancient when I visited that summer 10 years ago. I never thought it would be this soon though. I could feel my heart stop a bit with each word I read. My hand shaking ever so slightly as the air around me seemed to thicken.
‘He was dead.’
The words seemed to echo in my mind as I reached the bottom of the letter. My eyes resting on the part about the farm.
‘Seeing how he wanted you to have it, the villagers and I have decided to let you stay in town for three years. If you can prove to us that you can take care of it then we will welcome you has a new villager here in Mineral Town. You have the next 3 days to arrive and meet with me about the matter. Sincerely Mayor Thomas.’
Setting the let down on my desk I simply stared. My eyes fixed on the ‘3 days’ part.
“Guess I don’t have too long to think about it then.” I muttered to the four walls of my bedroom as I threw myself down on the bed, the old springs in the mattress popping and squeaking in the process. Closing my eyes I tried to think, think back on that summer. Back on gramps’ farm. Truthfully I didn’t remember much about my childhood visit but… I did remember playing in the mountains a lot and poking his chickens until they chased me through the fields.
And then…Then there was her. The girl who used to play with me that summer. I don’t remember her face, let alone her name. Some friend I am, huh? Smirking a bit I couldn’t help but wonder if I’d see her again. The girl who used to sing on the mountain top with me.

“It all started when I saw you…”
Chapter 2:
I had never really done anything with my life, I never went on for more schooling, I never really dated anyone before, and I’ve never really had a job before. So I guess this was gramps’ way of given me a bit of a push. At least that’s what I thought when I boarded the rickety old ship in the city harbor. It didn’t take long for the boat to shove off and enter the roaring sea, as its destination became clear. In a few hours, the look-out bell would chime as the shoreline got closer and closer.
Mineral Town would be almost in reach. I felt my heart beat in my chest as a large grin danced on my lips at the thought. Soon I’d be there. In that country paradise, where I spent a summer in my childhood. It didn’t really hit me then on the boat that the very farm I was dying to see wouldn’t be the same. Just when I was about to go talk to the captain, I heard a loud shout,
“MINERAL TOWN OFF THE PORT-BOW!”
My heart nearly stopped as I whipped around and looked out at the coming shore. There it was. The quiet little town I had visited 10 years ago. Reaching the pier, the boat docked and I got off with my orange sack on my bag as I headed off in the direction of the farm.
Reaching the front Gate I looked up at the familiar ‘Farmino Farm’ sign, which was really starting to show it’s age as the red paint seemed to be flaking off here and there. Taking another step passed it I felt my heart give way as I saw the run down farm from my childhood. The field was completely grown over with weeds and various branches and rocks. The barn, stable, and chicken coop looked like they’d be the first to fall if a typhoon were to hit the tiny village.
As for the house. I didn’t even wanna look at it. Luckily just as I was about to turn my attention to it I heard a cheery old voice from behind me. Turning around I saw a middle-aged man with a red top hat and a balding head.
“So What do you think? This was your grandpa’s farm. It’s been neglected for quite some time. Sooo it is a bit of a mess. Do you think you can handle it?” he managed to ask as he grinned under his brown mustache.
I simply nodded not really knowing what else to say. I mean it was grandpa’s idea for me to come and take care of it. So I couldn’t really deny the offer. Not to mention it killed me a bit to see it like this. Just then I felt a pat on my back.
“It’s been awhile since you were last here but you’ve grown up well! I know you’ll do just fine!” he chimed out as she walked passed me a bit before turning back at me rubbing his chin a bit.
“However… I talked it over with the villagers. If you can get this farm back to how it used to be we’ll let you continue to live here. However if the farm is neglected and you can’t take care of it then I’m afraid I’ll have to ask you to leave.”
Hearing his proposal I could only smile a bit nervously. I really didn’t know the first thing about farming but… I’d give it a shot. After all I had nothing better to do with my time.
“I’ll give it a shot.” I told him. Hearing that he bid his farewells and left me there in the overgrown field. Scratching my head a bit I stood there a bit stupefied. Just what was I supposed to do now?
Since I didn’t know how to do much of anything I ended up heading out into the mountains. Walking up the mossy steps to the hot spring, I started to hear something up ahead. It didn’t sound like an animal. In fact it almost sounded like a sobbing of some kind. Slowly reaching the top I felt my breath catch as my eyes stared at the pink haired maiden who stood before me.
