Well, this is a board that I can talk about anything, right? This is on my mind.
While I was away from the board, I was with this girl for about a year or so. We broke up last July for a rainbow of complex reasons. Problem is that I still have feelings for her, and I really want to get over her completely.
Anyone has any advice?

Hm... well, I'd suggest trying to bury yourself in work for a while. It helps if you have something intensive to focus on outside of your personal life (or lack thereof).

Problem is that burying myself in work is what's forcing me to think about her more. I got my second job, only because she asked me to. Now every time someone asks, "Why are you working this job if you already have a 40 hour job?" Then I would answer that my ex wanted me to work here so I can get a car. And quitting is not an option because I want a car for myself now.

Well, try writing then. The point is to lose yourself, to stop thinking for a while so that you can change gears and move on. However you manage that is up to you.
That said, I heavily discourage turning to alcohol or drugs. That just starts a death spiral.

My advice, though it sounds clique, worked for me once. When thoughts of her enter your head, immediately try to stop and think of something else. I used to envision myself hitting a brick wall and having to go else where in my mind. I don't know if it will work for you, but for me it was successful.

Guess what people? I just saw her last saturday. And I don't mean that I saw her from a distance, and hid behind a wall. I mean that she saw me a a store, came up to me, tickled me the way we used to when we were dating, and made sure I saw her. We talked for a while, and caught up since we last saw each other. She insisted that we be friends, and hang out every now and then. Knowing her, she wants to get back into the swing of things without being in a relationship. I've been trying to forget her, and here she comes trying to get back into my life.
