Yes, you should go to the orientation. Since your friend is also there, she (he) could help show you around the college, so that should make you nervous.

Eh i've been to the campus a few times but the thing i'm more nervous about is bus ride there and back, coming to do presentation when you know some people might already know the stuff your talking about or even better then you.

Beat somebody up on the first day. Nobody will mess with you after that.
Oh wait, that's prison...
Well, same thing, really.

I only went to the first day of mine, but it was really nice to be able to ask questions and get advice from students who have been there for a couple of years. You'll probably be nervous, but you'll get used to it after a while. Not sure what multimedia design is like, but most of the classes I've taken so far have been a lot more laid back than high school. Even though there's a lot more work in some classes, most of the professors I've had have been very understanding when it comes to things like illnesses and most treat students with a lot of respect. Do you know how long the bus ride will be for you? It's around 50 minutes for me and I find it very relaxing, especially since I'm only taking three classes per semester and can ride the bus at a time when it's quiet. It's a good opportunity to get caught up on reading.
