Swearing is allowed on the forums, but please keep it it a minimum.
Avatars and Signatures:
Avatars must be 60KB or less.
Signatures should be no larger than 550wide x400 tall pixels in size and be must be 200KB or less.
The signature rules apply to ALL sig images, ie, if you have three images in your sig, the combined size should be less than 400 pixels tall.
If your avatar or sig exceeds either size limit, it may be removed by a staff member, without explanation and replaced with one of these graphics:
If this happens, you may freely change the graphic for one that does not break the rules as soon as you wish. If you add the "bad" image in again, you WILL get a warning.
Also note, regarding file size of images and sig height, a few kb over is fine. The height of signatures are automatically enforced via a plug-in. The 550 pixel width rule is strictly enforced, so as to not disturb the boards appearance
Other Images
Rules for HM Gallery and the Album:
-no size limits or file size limits, however members should use common sense when posting really large images and just post those as a link or behind a spoiler.
All Other Boards
-Images posted on all other boards must be 200kb or less in filesize and less than 550 pixels in width. If it is larger than that, please post it as a link or behind a spoiler
Odds and Ends:
Double Posting:
--Double Posting means to post twice within a very short time limit, and is not the same as bumping. It is perfectly fine to double post sometimes. I do it.
But don't make a regular habit out of it; the edit button exists for a reason
Bumping Threads:
--Never, never, never bump old threads on the following boards: The Bulletin Board, Introductions, and Harvest Moon Help. The threads in these boards can get outdated very quickly. We staff try to do our part by periodically locking old threads on these boards.
Harvest Moon fanfictions/Non-Harvest Moon fanfictions: please don't bump incomplete stories asking the authors when they will finish. If the story hasn't been updated for months, the author has likely discontinued the story. However, if the story is finished, you may bump it to tell the author how much you loved it.
All other boards: No special rules, just use common sense. If you see a thread from last May, in which someone is asking for homework help, don't bump it. Also, when bumping an old thread, please make an extra effort to continue the conversation. Bumping a thread from 2005 just to write LOL is silly.
Indivdual boards may have their own set of rules. Please remember to read those as well!
The Warning System
How it works:
Your warning meter goes up when you break the rules, both those specified above and unwritten rules. The amount it goes up depends on how bad the broken rule was.
When the meter rises above 50% you will get a Warning Title. This will replace any custom title you may have and will not be removed until your meter reaches 0%.
At 75%-99% you may get a temporary ban. At 100% you get a permanent ban.
To get the meter lowered, you most demonstrate good behavior, and the meter will gradually be lowered. Disapearing for months does not show good behavior (in fact, it doesn't show ANY behavior good or bad), and will not get your meter lowered.
That said, if you have been active at the forums and have been behaving and your meter has not lowered, feel free to PM me. I'm forgetful.
