Okay, I have finally started to upgrade the hoe. The hoe allows me to till 2 spots at once. But here's the thing. If you charge up the tool, you cannot make any trenches longer than 2 spaces. So even though I upgraded the hoe, I still use it like if it was not upgraded so I can get my 30 space long trenches. Was there a point to upgrade the hoe at all?
And while we are on the topic, is there a point to upgrade the sickle?

You can make the long trenches with the hoe you have now, but it's easier if you upgrade. It's kind of tricky to do at this level and I haven't played in a while, so my memory is a tad rusty, but if you hold A and make the two space trench and then move your dude to the last space you hoed and hold A there, you can make long trenches. It's much easier if you upgrade.
The upgraded sickle cuts down grass in a similar way.

I already tried that, but after the first charge, I am not allowed to charge again. In order to charge again, I must break my trenches forcing me to only make a collection of small trenches. Is there like a trick to do it?

Yeah, I'm sorry, I didn't quite describe that correctly. It's hard to explain and tricky to do until you've upgraded your hoe a second time.

The person in this video never charges her hoe. She just uses the hoe in it's basic form.

So, I ended up dragging out my game to refresh my memory.
Hold A to charge and the D-pad in the direction you are hoeing. You'll make a trench that is two spaces long. Move to the last space and keep an eye on the cursor (for lack of a better word). You want to aim for the last space again and the un-hoed space next to it and repeat the first step. It really is easier if your hoe is leveled up

I kinda see how to make the trenches with the upgraded hoe. But I find it more difficult to do it that way. You must time your tilling exactly, and I find myself consuming more stamina this way just to have no more than a trench 5 spaces long. Tilling without charging has always allowed me to make a trench 51 spaces long before my character gets tired and breaks the trench at 50% stamina. This allows me to have enough space for 50 seeds, and an extra space for the fertilizer.

I did it with a regular hoe, it MUST be done with perfect rhythm. It's hard, but worth it!
