So tell me forum, what moment in Harvest Moon made you feel all mushy on the inside? Was it an event in the game that caught you off guard? Did getting married to that special fictional lover make you feel happy in all the good places n your heart and soul? Maybe an ending rocked your world that created a bond between you and the game? There are a lot of things that happen in the Harvest Moon games that made me feel all sorts of special. Today I am gonna share one of those groups of events: Spirit Festival: Harvest Moon: 64This was an amazing festival, and even more so if you got to participate in the event. The music was simple, and the guy in the mask was a little bit creepy. But seeing how the villagers come together in harmony to sing, dance, and play instruments really touch me. This festival made the village feel real, and gave me that warm fuzzy feeling inside. I really loved the year I got to play the Ocarina, and Popuri sang a song (You don't get to hear her sing, but she is animated to look like she is singing.). Music Festival: Harvest Moon: BTNImagine the Spirit Festival from HM:64, but on steroids. This festival is so amazing, that it just blows me away every single time. Once again, the villagers come together in harmony to sing, and play instruments. Hearing Karen sing makes my soul sing. I want to hear more, but Harvest Moon will never do anything this special or amazing ever again. Makes me sad enough to cry Yes, I mean it! Magical Melody endingYes, I know I already talked about it in a previous Post, but I will say this again. The music in this ending is fantastic. The instruments, the revival of the goddess, and the way the music rocks my mind. This is one of the very few reasons that I consider this game to be a good game. Not a great game, cause the road to that ending is filled with frustration for me. But the payoff was well worth it.

Proposing to Vaughn. He finally, finally drops the cold act he puts up. His line "Guess I'm done wondering. I found what I was looking for" made me go "aww" out loud when I was playing. It's still my favorite proposal.

BTN, the event where May runs away. When I found her on the pier, she told me she hopes some day to live with her mother and Grandpa both. This just struck me as so sad, especially since in MFoMT, Bailey yells at his daughter over the phone about abandoning her daughter and she doesn't seem to care. The whole thing touched me deeply. Maybe because my parents are divorced, but this situation is just sad.

Speaking of sad emotional moments: Ellen's death in 64. It was so unexpected and heartbreaking. Ever since, I try to keep her alive in my games ;_;

A moment in the game that really had me on the edge of my seat was an event in Harvest Moon: Back to Nature. This game has an event where all the male villagers try to assult Kai for being popular with the ladies. I believe it was hosted by Rick (figures). I remember me stepping in, and defending Kai. Doug told me that my actions were "Deep".
I also remember another event where I invited Kai to the fireworks festival. Kai explains to Popuri that he is viewing them with someone else, and of course, Popuri gets jealous. Until she finds out that I am the person Kai is viewing the fireworks with. Of course, it wouldn't be a Kai event if Rick is not involved. Because Rick doesn't allow Kai to view the fireworks from the beach, we view them from the mountain away from everyone else.
Kai's final event is when he gives me a perfume bottle. Seeing that I was a good friend to him, he gives me a gift to give to someone I am fond of. I gave the perfume bottle to Karen, although I didn't know why. I guess she was the lowest character affection wise.
What makes these events emotional is that this is one of the few events in Harvest Moon series that involves friendship over marriage. Befriending the village outcast, and having a nice well told story really stood out for me. Made me feel that the old school Harvest Moon games really knew how to emulate human bonding whether it's between lovers, or best friends. Human bonding and trust are powerful emotions, and that's why I feel that this belongs in this topic.

Winter, year one in Story of Seasons. This was literally the only time I've ever cried because of a video game.

Getting Karen to purple heart in FoMT.
It wasn't so much a mushy emotion as it was a small triumph. It was summer 2005 (just under a year before I signed up here, actually), my brother and I were visiting our grandparents in Yuma for a couple weeks. I picked up the game from a local GameStop and started playing, but I was having trouble with EVERYTHING. The only other game in the series that I'd played was the original, and being away from the computer (and not daring to ask Grandpa if I could use his!), I had no idea what I was doing and had no way of looking it up. Stuff like the blacksmith system wasn't in the original, things as simple as feeding the chickens were changed, and I had no idea what any of the villagers' likes and dislikes were. I was just throwing everything at the wall and seeing what stuck, it took me ages to figure out, "Oh, this chick is a wino".

Nina's death in AWL. She was the first villager I really befriended in the game, not to mention I felt she made a great grandmother figure. When she died in chapter 2 I was devastated and even spent a lot of my time following Galen around.
