Hi guys!
Am I the only one completely uninterested in the next gen consoles?

Nope, none of the new systems catch my eye.

Some of the new games do, but the hardware upgrades haven't really seemed necessary. Especially considering the pricing, which places all of them out of casual purchase range. Or even "allocated monthly entertainment budget" range.

The only one I'm at all interested in is the Wii U. Everything I've heard about the X-Box one scares me

Hear hear! I MIGHT get a PS4 eventually, just because there will be games on there I'll want someday. If the Wii U can come out with some great games, I would like it too. The XBox One? Reeejected!

The reason some people are not looking forward to the next gen is because the idea of "Next Gen" is lost. In the past, the "Next Gen" typically means the idea that the next console is gonna have a huge upgrade to it's graphics. Take for example the "Nintendo" vs the "Super Nintendo", huge upgrade. Now we have arrived at the point of graphics where you can't really upgrade too much anymore. Since graphic updates are so limited, they try to sell you a device that does more than play games. In fact, our new consoles try to act like PC's and not game consoles. Many gamers have moved on to real PC's where limitations just plain do not exist as far as gaming is concerned. In fact, the last 3 months, I have plugged my XBOX controller to my PC, and I have been playing games on my PC for a while now. My XBOX has been collecting dust for about 6 months, and I don't see a whole lot of games worth playing on any console. My brother has 2 PS3's, and he does NOT use them to play games. He uses it to access Netflix, play Blurays, and that's it.
In order for Game Consoles to survive to the next gen, people need to understand that we need to get out of the CD/DVD/HDVD/BluRay format, and find another type of format that holds more data. I say that we should start storing games on small hard drives. That way, storage space is less limited, graphics can get better, games are bigger, and bad/glitchy games can be updated/improved/patched/expanded over time.
Also, the game consoles need to get into the MMO market. If XBOX allows me to play Elsword on the console rather than plugging their controller in my PC, I am so there!

Yeah, PS4 is trying to go that route I think. I know Elder Scrolls Online is going to try it for beta.
Graphics have never mattered to me. They really don't. But game-play does. I always want to see the full potential brought out of a console. Probably why I was fondest of the Wii, so much potential...sad it was rarely used.
