Food for thought: WHY do we have gender on bathrooms? Other than freaking out that someone's in the "wrong" bathroom, what's the difference? As far as I know, the one difference is "urinal or no urinal?" which aren't that great anyways, except for making a mess.

You know, I really don't know. I guess it's a holdover from times when people where more conservative than nowadays? I think unisex bathrooms would make things easier for lots of people. Like, should a dad take his daughter into the men's room with him? Take her into the ladies room? Let her go alone into the ladies room? And then there are trans* people, who are made to feel bad for using the bathrooms for the gender they identify as. :<

Exactly. I've heard a suggestion that a unisex bathroom with floor to ceiling stalls would be the answer. Seriously, who likes stalls you can peek into anyways?

People that like peeking at someone answering the call of nature. As a janitor, the one thing I hate cleaning in the mens restrooms is the urinals.

I like things the way they are.
The temptation is just too great to peek at someone, and I don't really want women around when I make bears. I'm noisy and smelly on the toilet.
I guess I have no real objection to unisex bathrooms as an option, but not as the norm. We already have those family bathrooms that were designed for the very points that Butters brought up.
A third unisex bathroom could work, but it shouldn't be forced on businesses or schools. Not every business/school district/whatever can afford it, so it would ultimately lead to my next point.
There are those that say we should just let trannys use whatever gender's bathroom they identify with. What's to stop a straight guy from claiming that he's a tranny just so he can spy on women? Or vice versa? This is especially a problem with the schools in California that they want to do this with.

Please don't use the word tranny here, okay? Thanks!
And yeah, I guess a straight man could claim to be trans* to spy on women, but then, a gay man could spy on men, a lesbian could spy on women...you get the idea.
