Avatar Creator Concerns

I've been gone for a long time, and this avatar creator is new to me.

I'm a little freaked out by it. The character it had pre-generated not only looks like me, but he's wearing a black and white raglan just like the one I have on in some of the pictures of me floating around on the internet.

The shirt could be written off as a coincidence, but my face, glasses, hair color/style, and eye color? How exactly does it work? Does it grab a picture from somewhere, and generate from that? Is it connected to some other program that I may have created an avatar with in the past? This seems like a bit of an invasion of my privacy if it's the former. Most of the pictures I've put on the internet are just on Facebook, and I have a beard in most of them (unlike the avatar), it makes me wonder if they took a really old picture of me from MySpace or something.

Sorry for the late reply. I poked around a bit, trying to figure it out. As far as I can tell, by default, the avatar has the raglan shirt, brown hair, brown eyes and is clean-shaven. My own avatar had long brown hair, but everyone else's that I poked around with had short hair. I might have played around with the avatar maker awhile back, though.

I can look into it further if you're concerned.

Mine has green eyes, glasses, and a slight cleft in the chin (like I do). I don't think it's just a coincidence.

I'm not scared or anything, it was just a bit jarring.

I went through the security log and there is an instance of you editing your profile back in April 2013, so maybe you fiddled with the avatar maker then?

I'm pretty sure you have to physically go in and mess around with it to get it to look like much of anything.

Normally when you join or haven't picked an avatar it will just be a grey silhouette.
