Sorry, I jumped the gun. You're saving on a memory card, right? I should have read your post a bit more thoroughly. It definitely sounds like the file is corrupted. Like all HM games, this one is full of bugs. Stuff like this just happens. You could try copying the file to another memory card and seeing if the problem persists (it could possibly be the memory card that's at fault, especially if you're using an off-brand one), but beyond that, you're probably sunk. I do repairs and have my own copy of the game, so I could run a few tests on the memory card, but I can't make any promises.
