N64 emulation in general is notoriously buggy. It's a big part of the reason I bought a real N64, and later a legit copy of this game.
Unfortunately, you're probably barking up the wrong tree. Besides the fact that this forum is dead (the only reason I'm even responding to this is that I got an email saying that somebody was making a bunch of new posts), I don't know if any of the members know enough about emulation to help you out. If you're having trouble finding the solution, I would recommend that you find a message board that's more tech-oriented, and ask for help there. There are entire forums out there that are centered on emulation and/or retro gaming, like Emutalk. Somebody's got to know what to do.
If not, you could always grab a flash cart and an N64 (assuming you don't already own the latter). Flash carts aren't cheap, but you'd pay about the same for a real copy of the game these days. I was lucky, and bought one off a local guy for $40 this past summer, but they can easily fetch $100 or more depending on condition. At that point, you may as well spend the money on a flash cart, it's about the same. If you decide to go this route, hit me up: I actually have an N64 for sale at the moment. I've been sitting on it a while, so I'm only asking $40 (plus shipping, in this case).
