Chapter Three: The Search Is On~
After Liam had left, Yasmine searched for her brothers (she knew there was no way Trey was outside). She targeted Matt first, as he was usually the easiest to find. All he did was fish, or, occasionally, ride Jack's horse, Toffee. Yasmine found him doing the former.
"Don't you ever get bored of just... sitting there?" she asked him as she sat down next to him. He shook his head, his eyes still glued to the river. "Nope." "Well... have you coaught anything big?" Yasmine prodded him, glancing all around. She saw nothing but an almost-empty bucket of squiggly, wiggling, pinkish, fat worms. "Nope." He was still staring intently at the peacefully flowing river. He never cared if he caught something or not. Even if he caught an old boot he was proud. Yasmine nodded, her eyebrows raised in a sort of "O-kaaay then" look. Matt wasn't really known to answer in complete sentances when he was fishing. "Just wanted to know where you were." Standing up, Yasmine went in search of Nathan. He, unlike his older brother, could be doing anything, from jumping off the top of the barn to digging a three-foot deep hole... around the mailbox.
She decided to start the search by the honey tree, as her family called it. It was really a sturdy old oak tree that bees had found a home in, and where their family got fresh honey all year long. Nate had been stung over ten times by those said bees, but that didn't stop him from prodding the nest with a stick, or climbing the tree. and bouncing on the branch the nest hung on. But alas, he was not there. She had carefully looked all over the tree, but there were not movements at all, save the occasional fat, clumsy bee bumbling around outside the hive.
Next came the fish-pond, in which Jack (and Matt, if he got lucky) kept all of their extra fish. Nate was known to swim around in the murky, fish-poop filled pond. Yasmine was not going to go swimming inside the pond, but she did poke a stick down in the water, searching for something soft. The only thing she found was a fish. Next, she stared at the water, looking very much like Matt did when he was fishing. After two minutes of just staring, she realized her brother could not hold his breath for over ten seconds, so she moved on.
After checking the feild, the barn, the chicken coop, and the stable, Yasmine was beginning to get worried. Her little brother was nowhere to be found. She thought he might have slipped of the the town, but he wasnt allowed there without someone taking him, even if he was visiting Chris, May and Stu's five-year-old son. So where could he be? Yasmine had the fleeting idea that he might have gone into Mother's Hill Forest, but she had been glancing in that direction every five seconds. There was no way he could have gone off in that direction.
Yasmine burst into the doors of her house, looking around quickly for the mop of gold hair. She sighed and collapsed onto one of the chairs, buring her head into her hands as she saw the little boy was not in the house. Mary, sensing something was wrong, went over and placed her hands on Yasmine's back. "What's wrong, dear?" she asked softly. Yasmine hunched her shoulders up, allowing her hair to fall into her face, almost covering it up. She said nothing, for fear she would burst into tears. "...Where are the boys? You told them to come in for lunch, right?" Mary questioned lightly. Wrong thing to say. Yasmine began sobbing uncontrollably. "That's... that's just it! I can't... I can't find... I don't know where Nate is!" She rested her forehead on the wooden table, crying openly, her sobs echoing throughout the silent house. Mary's face was stony white. "...Nathan..." she whispered. She whipped around and, without another word to her daughter, sped out the door, leaving it open behind her.

OMG! MUST RAD MORE! You left it at a cliffhanger and I hate those! Even though it makes me more anxious for the next chapters! Poor Nate!

If I'm not mistaken, you had a few cliffhangers yourself, Anna.

Thank you ^-^
Eh, I was hoping that more people'd be more concerned about Yasmine... poor thing. Being the oldest isn't easy, ya know (I would know-- I'm the oldest of ALL my cousins)?
