Ch 5- Problems with Karen
The beach became a popular hang-out for people young and old of Mineral Town. Often, Rick took a delighted Karen for a romantic day on the beach. Karen would always insist on playing volleyball just so she oculd giggle at every time Rick flinched or dodged away from the ball itself.
Once while the couple was their, Rick noticed Ann, Mary, and Thorn all splashing in the ocean. Everytime someone would splash at Thorn, she would shriek with delight before splashing back with vengance. Rick could never help but give a small chuckle at his friend.
Once out of the water, Thorn through a hunormous white t-shirt over her one-piece bathing suit. Rick swore she must have stolen it from Van or Gormet. Before she threw on the shirt though, Rick managed to sneak a glance at the scar on her chest.
"What are you staring at?" Karen demanded.
"N-nothing!" Rick stammered in defense.
"Good" Strictly rolled out of Karen's mouth. She wrapped her arms around Rick.
Thorn was chatting with Mary before she noticed Rick. She flashed a grin and waved as she sprung up and ran over.
"I haven't seen you in ages!" She cried as she approached the couple.
"Rick, who's she?" Karen demanded once more knowing perfectly well who it was.
"Uh, Karen, this is Thorn! Thorn, this is Karen...my girlfriend" Karen gave a sly smirk to mark her property.
Thorn didn't seem to notice. "A pleasure to meet you!" she said quietly as she let out a hand. Begrudgingly, Karen shook hands with ehr and said, "No, the pleasure is all mine."
Ann suddenly called for Thorn from across the beach. "I have to go..." Thorn said rather perkily. "But take care!"
Once gone, Karen wrapped her arms around Rick again and began kissing his neck softly.
"Karen..." Rick started. He had a feeling she was trying to be overprotective as she had acted a few times before.
"Whaaat?" she slurred. "You usually love that so much..." Karen let go and positioned herself in front of Rick. SLowly she wrapped not only her arms, but her legs around Rick's sweaty body and began making out with him.
"Karen..." Rick warned sternly once again as he tried to pull away. She wouldn't listen though and continued snogging.
"Karen!" Rick cried. "Enough is enough! We're through!"

Ch 6- A confused Rick
Karen sat in complete shock with her mouth opening, then closing. Finally, she managed to stutter, "W-what?! Wh-what do you mean we're through?!"
"You heard me." Rick mumbled. "We're through, and that's that." He picked up his all of his beach supplies and began walking toward the square.
"This is about Thorn, isn't it?" Karen hissed. "Isn't it?!" Rick stopped dead in his tracks. "You...you love her, don't you? You're in love with that...that, dirt bag? That lowly worm! You prefer that ugly bitch over me?" Karen finished screaming and took in a deep breath, trying to hold back her sobs.
Slowly, Rick turned around and headed straight toward Karen. He took her by the chin and hissed through his teeth, "Don't you ever say anything about Thorn again." With that he let Karen go and began walking away once more.
The sun was beginning to set as Rick trudged home. He was frustrated with Karen's words, but yet confused. Did he love Thorn? She was such a close friend to Rick, and he had never really recognized his feelings toward her. He realized though, that Thorn was truly magical. Every time the two were chatting over a cup o'joe, he had a wonderful sensation of joy that he had never felt until he had stumbled across Thorn. He stomped up the small platform in front of the chicken farm and shuffled inside. The house was quiet, except for Popori reading a book on the small sofa. Once she turned and saw Rick, she could see something was bothering him.
"What's wrong?" Popori asked, gently closing the book.
"Breakup" Rick muttered as he walked past.
"Karen dumped you?" Popori replied, aghast.
"Other way"
Rick ran up into his room and locked the door tight. After a brief change into jeans and a green polo, he collapsed on his bead. He tried to think of something besides Karen and Thorn, but he couldn't shake the thought.
"I need to see her" he decided. Slowly he sat up and ran his fingers through his hair. Sighing, he pushed himself off the bed and headed toward the inn.

Ok, this is just a short chapter I've decided to add in the spur of the moment. Nothing really dramatic happens here.
Ch 7- He loves me...
The sand felt soft against her burning cheeks as Karen lay buried in the sand. Her heart was shattered and her tears refused to cease. "How could he?" she whispered as her stifled sobs continued to flow. She loved Rick with all her heart- and now, he had broken it. She never meant any of the things that she had said about Thorn- her anger had only tooken control of her mouth. A soft breeze stirred the sand on the beach and Karen's hair draped over her face. "Rick..." she whispered once more. She couldn't take this pain any longer. Karen sprung up and ran across the beach, paying no attention to where she was headed. As she poured her pain out in tears- she suddenly bumped into something or someone and knocked them over.
"I-I'm so sorry!" she cried, beginning to lift herself off the person.
"No no, I'm sorry for bumping into such a lovely lady. Please...Forgive Me" Karen recognized the voice.
When she wiped away the tears, she saw Won.
"Might I ask what troubles you?" Won asked softly.
"A breakup..." Karen whispered.
"Who would dare break such a beautiful girl's heart?" Won asked ever so gently. "If I were priveleged myself with someone like you, I would be a perfect gentleman and attend to all her heart's desires..."
The two were still on top of each other, in a complete, aweing silence.
"Karen..." Won whispered.
"Won..." Karen whispered back.
