A/N~ Here is the next chapter if anyone wants to read it... Chapter Four: Break up?
Karen wasn’t sure what to do. She knew it would be awkward if she ran out the door, and even more awkward if Rick came after her. So she decided to stay, rooted to the spot. Rick walked closer to Karen. He had that same clumsy smile on his face, and Karen caught a whiff of chicken feed. She sighed. This wasn’t going to be good...
“Hi Karen!” Rick said cheerfully. Karen nodded at him and started walking to the bar. Unfortunately, Rick trailed behind her. “Is there something wrong?” he asked. Karen shook her head, secretly biting her lip. “OK! Good, because I was just wondering...” he paused to take a deep breath. Karen sighed. “Here it comes...” she thought sadly. “Well, I was just wondering...Because you know they’re coming up and well-“ Rick was interrupted when Karen asked Doug for a some wine. Rick looked over at her. Now they were face to face. “Are you mad at me or something, Karen?” he asked worriedly. “No...” Karen mumbled. “Then why are you ignoring me?!” he practically shouted. Some people in the rather noisy bar turned their heads to look at the two fighting people. “Here’s your drink Karen!” said Doug, not realizing what had just happened. Karen turned over to him, glad to not being pressured by Rick. She slowly took some money out of her pocket and then, very slowly counted it. Then she passed Doug the money, and took a sip of her drink. Unfortunately, her little “scene” only lasted about a minute. She turned around to face Rick again. When she looked back at him he seemed more worried then angry. “Karen, what did I do wrong?” he asked quietly. “Rick, we weren’t even dating! You couldn’t have possibly done anything wrong!” she replied. “So you’re... We’re breaking up?!” he said looking up, tears in his eyes. “BREAKING UP?!” Karen bellowed. Now all eyes were on them, but Karen ignored it. “Rick, we were NEVER dating! I never even... thought that we were dating.” Karen said, looking angry with Rick. “Never dating?! How can you say that? We went to every festival together for TWO years! How is that not dating?!” Rick shot back. Karen looked away. Maybe he was right... Karen could hear the villagers whispering among themselves. Karen felt her eyes burn up, and she tried to hold back tears but she couldn’t. They started spilling down as she whispered: “But I never loved you...”

A/N~ Well, I thought you'd figure that I posted it by yourself... Oh well. Since I got two comments, I'll post the next chapter! Chapter five: Goodbye
Rick stared at Karen some strange emotion in his eyes. Karen didn't know if it was anger or sadness. Just then the door to the Inn opened up and some one walked in!
"Hi everyone!" It was a cheerful and familiar voice. It was Jack. Karen looked up, a nd when Jack saw her tear stained face he ran over to her immense worry in his eyes. Karen couldn't take this. She didn't want to see these immature boys. She knew that once Rick found out Jack was going to the fireworks with Karen, he'd freak. She ran out of the Inn crying.
Karen didn't know where to go. She didn't want to go home and be ambushed by questions from her parents... The Inn to the door opened. Karen dove into a nearby bush thoughtlessly.
"Karen?" It was Ann. "Karen? Come on! I know you're out here!" Karen stayed in the bush, not even daring to move. she could hear a loud sigh from Ann... Well, Ann probably wouldn't hert... Karen poked her head out of the bush. Karen's red headed friend spun around, and saw Karen. She started laughing. When she wouldn't stop, Karen angrily pushed her down. Ann stifled another fit of giggles, and got up. "Those boys are gonna find out where we are you idiot!" Karen whispered loudly to Ann. Ann looked around. "Whats wrong?" she asked worriedly. Karen sighed. "I like Jack but Rick thinks I like him and so does everyone else!" Karen said sadly. "At least some boys like you..." Ann sighed. "What about Cliff? I KNOW he likes you, Ann!" Ann looked up and smiled weakly. "It's getting late! Don't you think you should go home?" she told Karen. Karen sighed. "Let's take the long way."
Walking with Ann was fun. They hadn't really talked in a long time, and it was nice to have a friend to friend chat. When they got to the supermarket door, Karen saw that only one dim light was on inside the house. Karen smiled at her friend. "See ya Ann." Ann waved and turned around. When she heard the supermarket door open and then close, she started walking. Just then, she felt a hand touch her shoulder. Ann screamed and punched the person in the face. She heard a familiar grown and then gasped. "Cliff!"

A/N~ Here is the next chapter. Please enjoy! ;D
Chapter six: Real thing
Karen waited and waited as the seemingly slow days passed by until the fireworks festival kicked off the end of summer. When it was the eve of the festival, Karen went to the Inn for the first time since her ‘scene’ with Rick. When Karen got there, she was happy to see Jack sitting alone at a table in the far corner of the Inn. There was no sign of Rick, so Karen ordered a drink and went to sit with Jack.
“Hi how’s it goin?” Jack asked cheerfully when Karen sat down. Karen smiled. “Fine...” she replied. “So...I haven’t seen you for a while. What’s been going on?” Jack asked. “Umm... My parents have needed some extra help in the store, and so I offered...” she lied. Karen didn’t feel like telling Jack she hadn’t gone outside for a week because she was afraid to run into Rick or him. Jack nodded and smiled. For a while there was an awkward silence and then Jack started talking about how things have been on the farm. Karen enjoyed this kind of topic, and for the rest of the night she didn’t even think about Rick.
“Well, I should probably get going...” Karen said, getting up. Jack also got up. “I’ll walk you home!” he offered. Karen smiled at him and they walked out of the Inn together. When the couple got to the Supermarket Karen said goodbye to Jack and thanked him for walking her home. Just as she opened the door, Jack stopped her.
“We’re still on for the fireworks right?” he asked nervously. Karen smiled sweetly at him. “Of course!” she replied. Jack smiled, said goodbye, and left.
~#~#~
There was a knock on the supermarket door. Karen ran to answer it. Jack, as she had expected, was standing there. Karen smiled. He was wearing jeans a black jacket, and of course his blue cap. Karen smiled at his ‘not-so-fancy’ outfit.
“Ready?” Jack asked Karen. Karen nodded and turned around. “I’m leaving now Mom!” she called, and shut the door behind her. Jack and Karen sat on the pier waiting for the fireworks to start. Karen shivered. ‘I should have brought a jacket...’ she thought. Suddenly, she felt warmth cover her shoulders. She looked up and saw that Jack had put his jacket on her. Karen smiled at him. “Thanks...” she said. Jack just nodded understandingly. A loud ‘boom’ announced that the fireworks had started. A flurry of colors entered the dark sky. It looked beautiful, and for the first time in her life, Karen was happy to be watching the fireworks with someone...

A/N~ Ok, here is the next chapter, i just finished writing it. Please tell me what you think! Chapter seven: FightEver since the fireworks festival Karen was sure that she liked Jack. He was so cheerful and kind... He was unlike Rick in so many ways... So many wonderful ways... It was the last day of summer, and Karen looked out her window. It was beautiful outside, so she got out of bed, got dressed, and headed out into the warm summer air. Karen started walking, and then let her feet lead the rest of the way. After a while, she saw that she was heading towards the beach, and she remembered that today was Kai’s last day in Mineral Town. Karen decided that she’d say goodbye to him, and so she walked down the stone steps leading to the beach, and called Kai’s name when she saw him and Popuri sitting by the ocean watching the water. Kai and Popuri looked up when Kai’s name was called. Kai smiled warmly when he saw Karen and he beckoned her to come over to him. She did and then smiled at him. “I just wanted to say goodbye, and I hope you have a good trip.” said Karen, hugging Kai. “I hope so too. Thanks Karen.” Kai said happily. Karen was getting ready to leave, when she saw Popuri looking up at her with jealous eyes. Karen giggled. “Don’t worry Popuri! I don’t plan on taking Kai away from you!” she said cheerfully. Popuri’s eyes became calmer and she smiled at Karen. “Good...” she mumbled and Karen walked away laughing. When Karen walked out of the beach and into Rose Square, her smile quickly faded. There was Rick, smirking at her. “So you plan on stealing my sister’s boyfriend, huh?” he said, staring at Karen triumphantly. Karen glared at him. “No, Rick. I was just being a civil person, and saying goodbye to Kai!” Karen spat back. Rick looked at her, confused. “Are you saying I’m-“ Karen cut him off. “Yes Rick. I’m saying that you aren’t at all civil! You can’t accept the fact that I like other people, and that I was NEVER dating you! You can’t accept the fact that your sister is in love with someone, and you won’t let her be! You can’t say goodbye to Kai, without yelling at him first! You’re a jerk Rick! And these true words confirm it!” she screamed at him. Rick blinked as Karen ran off. He watched her go, and then he realized she was right...
