I just started playing Tales of Vesperia again after getting distracted by other games and I forgot how awesome it is. Out of the ones I've played so far it's my favorite, tied with Tales of the Abyss.
So...are there any other Tales fans here? If so what are your favorite Tales games?

I'm a big tales fan. Got 4 of their games. Radient Mythology, Symphonia, Vesperia, and Phantasia. Symphonia and Vesperia are tied. I like how Yuri is more of an anti-hero, but Symphonia, was just epic.

One of the things I liked best about Symphonia was the affection system. It was nice not having a romance forced into the plot.

actually, in the end it kind of is. Because they had to make a 'canon' romance. So in the end, no matter who was with Lloyd, it was Collete that won him over. I personally think Lloyd and Sheena make a better couple but that's my opinion. Same with Yuri and Judith.
But I love Radient Mythology since it's just one big crossover. I got to fight with and kick the asses of Luke, Tear, Senel, Lloyd, Kratos, Genis, among others.
Can't wait for Radient Mythology 2 (with a bunch of new characters) and Tales of VS. (Tales of Versus, another crossover, but mostly fighting in a tournament style thing between main characters and such.)

True, but at least you could choose different characters to accompany Lloyd at the end. Then in ToS: DotNW:
[spoilers]There's another event like the Flanoir one and he can end up with Presea, Sheena, or Colette. With Raine and the other characters it isn't romantic.[/spoiler]
Colette and Lloyd is still canon, but at least there's the option to see non-romantic scenes, which is what I like. And the Emil/Marta thing is actually not as bad because it didn't start with them hating each other like a certain Tales game on the PS2...
I hope RM2 and ToVs come out. Maybe something will be announced at E3...

I never got to play Down of the New World because I don't have a Wii. Tell me more.
Honestly, I wanted Lloyd/Sheena. Also, they should make a Tales game that's a prequel to Symphonia with Yggdrasial, Kratos and their old gang. I am currently thinking up a fanfic in which an OC gives his version of what happened.
same with Yuri/Judith for Vesperia. They're perfect for each other. Flirty and not afraid to show off, but with morals and secrets they hide from each other.

If you don't mind getting spoiled, here's the scene with Sheena in Flanoir. Nothing much of the main plot, but Lloyd being in it is kind of a spoiler in itself. I would love to see a prequel, even if it's more fanservice like DotNW. There's a lot of potential, but I wouldn't be surprised if Namco decided not to based on the reaction to DotNW. A lot of people seemed to really dislike it. But, then again, if there's a small budget they might just go ahead, anyway, because it will probably make money because of the name. I prefer Yuri/Judith as well, mainly because Rita seems a bit young and Estelle is...Estelle. Compared to the other characters, she seemed relatively static and doesn't suit Yuri very well, IMO. But I like the friendship between Yuri and Flynn the best. I don't know if there are any other scenes (I'm right at the end of the game and haven't seen the ending yet), but I loved the scenes before and after the battle with him outside of Aurnion. The other scene with Rita and Judith was really good, too. Overall the friendships between the characters were shown really well. That's one of the reasons Vesperia and Abyss are my favorites.

I see. I also like that one battle in Radient Mythology between your character and Kanono. I always solo that mission because of the friendship between them, and either choice makes for good convo. "I don't want to do this" or "You know you can't beat me". One conveys how you feel, and the other conveys your assurance in your strength. Being in the Swordsman or Magic Knight class for that battle also leads to epicness.

Just finished Tales of Vesperia! That was really awesome. One comment on the ending... I liked how Duke didn't die. Nice change from the other Tales games I've played.

I feel so jipped whenever I buy tales games now. No matter what system I buy it for, Sony just remakes it and adds more stuff to it that everyone wanted to see but never got. I can't afford a PS3, and to just buy the game all over again for the new stuff makes it seem like its not worth it. You already know how to beat all the bosses and go through everyplace. It's just new characters, sidequests, etc.

Usually I don't mind the remakes since there isn't a whole lot of new content (like in ToS for the PS2), but this bothers me a bit since it really should have been in the first game (with Flynn being a permanent member and Patty being more than just a reference in some coding/Capura Torim). Though, to be honest, I'm more annoyed with Namco's pattern of bringing Tales games over.
And by "pattern" I mean "skipping a ton of mothership titles and releasing whatever games they feel like." They say that the market may not be right for Tales games, but it's hardly a franchise in North America since whenever there's a new Tales game released/re-released there's a good chance we're not going to get it. Four mothership titles have been skipped as well as a bunch of spin-offs. Namco seems to want the Tales series to be the next Final Fantasy, but that will most likely never happen considering they don't bring a lot of games over and seem to make really stupid decisions (like releasing ToA within two weeks of FFXII).

*sighs*
This sucks horribly. They seem to enjoy making us suffer with good games only giving you half the story. Ninja Gaiden, sony remakes way better, Tales, sony remakes way better, next up we're gonna find out it's Persona. (At least FES was quickly released)

Bumping this up to reply and add stuff.
At least ToS for the PS2 didn't have a lot of new content, so North American audiences didn't miss a lot, but hopefully Namco will deem NA worthy of getting the PS3 port. But if they do release it here it will probably be something like two weeks before FFXIII because they do not seem to know how to market their games.
Anyway, Tales of Graces is going to be released next month in Japan. Hopefully it will be localized, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

I want Radient Mythology 2, since they came out with the 1st one in NA, they'd better come out with the 2nd one.
