Many years ago a young man named Jack arrived in Mineral Town and took over the rundown old farm. He was determined to make the farm a success, and after several years of effort, he achieved this goal. All of Mineral Town benefited from his hard work. His efforts so pleased the Harvest Goddess that she fell in love with him and they were to be married.
But then, on the day of their wedding, Jack disappeared. He left a short letter in his house. It read simply, "I must go." Though everyone looked for him, no trace of him was seen. The Harvest Goddess was so upset by his disappearance that she retreated into her pond and would not come out, no matter how many offerings were made to her. Gradually, the magic of the world began to weaken. The weather grew colder and it rained less.
Two years have passed since Jack disappeared. This is where our story begins.

Millie wakes up and sees it's already 10am. She hurries down to get some breakfast before the inn stops serving. She sits down in the corner.

Magnus looks up from his usual table, but only briefly. The space pirates he's writing about are in a serious jam, and he wants to get it all down on paper before he loses it.

Molly stepped off her boat and onto the dock. After so many days aboard, she half-expected the dock to sway under her feet, but she soon got used to solid ground. She tied her small boat to the dock, using the sailor's knot her father had taught her. The boat was small, and travel in it had been cramped and uncomfortable, but she had arrived at her destination.
Molly grabbed her bag and headed off to find a place to stay.

Millie pays for her meal and asks Doug where the Winery was. She remembered Aja telling her the winery her parents ran was named for her. She headed out with Doug's directions.

Jacob comes from the kitchen and wipes down the table. The soap on the table reminds him of his mothers face he holds back down the tears and scrubs really hard.

Zack gave Molly directions to the inn, and she set off. It was not a far walk, and she arrived there sooner than she expected. As she walked up, she saw a young woman her own age walking out.
The inn was not busy at this time of day. There were only a few others inside. One of the people was a young man who looked as if he was crying. Molly was curious about him, but right now she was too tired and hungry to make new friends. She sat down at a table, and waited to be served.

Millie barely made it to the Winery before it closed, but Manna was very happy to see her. Especially after she said she was a friend of Aja's. She meant to ask when Aja would be home, but Manna never stopped talking until dinner time. Millie dodged Manna's dinner invitation and ran back to inn before the woman could chase her down.

"Aha! Perfect!"
With a quiet chuckle, Magnus looks up from his clipboard and shakes his hand out. Upon looking around, he sees a few unfamiliar faces, and realizes that he'd probably been out of it for a while.
"Ah," he says to the girl at the other table, "I'm sorry. I tend to zone out a little when I'm working. You haven't been here too long, have you?"

Jacob finishes scrubbing the table he has this uneasy feeling that someone is staring at him. He looks up to see a few ladies and a man reading over a piece of paper. He picks up his cloth and moves on to another table and starts his task again.

"No, not very long" Molly replied to the man at the other table. Her stomach gave a loud growl and she made a face. "Do you work here? I'm starving."

Magnus stands up and stretches, and then walks over to the young lady's table. "No," he says absently, "I'm just kinda passing through. I honestly don't know where Ann or Doug disappeared to..."
He scans around, but only sees the busboy. Pulling out his watch to check the time, he finds that he forgot to wind it again. He sighs, and decides to sit down.
"Well, I think they're probably preparing for the lunch rush, but I can't be sure without knowing the time. Downside of antiques, they're rarely as convenient as the modern equivalents."

"Oh, a wind-up watch?" Molly replied, leaning forward to get a better look. "I've heard of those, but I've never seen one. Why don't you get a normal one, with a battery?" She held up her arm, showing a slender wristwatch. "See this? It's even waterproof! Perfect for someone like me."

"Hey, this thing's a classic!" Magnus replies. "Besides, it's been in my family longer than I have. Even if the damn thing's a pain to keep up with, there are people who'd kill for a genuine article like this..."
Magnus snaps the case shut, and absently polishes his watch against his shirt before sticking it back into his pocket. Glancing at the watch on the girl's hand, he nods.
"You tend to get wet often then, do you?" He asks, thinking about her earlier comment. "Ah, but I'm forgetting my manners! My name is Magnus. It's a pleasure to meet you."

"I'm Molly," Molly replied with a big smile. She grabbed Magnus's hand and shook it heartily. "I need a waterproof watch because I'm a fisherman, er, fishergirl? Fisherwoman? Well, anyway, I catch fish for a living."
She glanced around the room, trying to make eye contact with the busboy, then went on. "That's why I came here to Mineral Town. I heard the fishing is good, so I came here in my boat. What about you? Are you from the area?"
